Well it looks like I am going to have to re-use my old cam oil seals since the only way to get them for the 1JZ is to buy a gasket set. With any luck my Supra will be back together in the next day or two.

Well I've failed. I forgot the most basic rule when working on a car, always double check to see that you got the right part. I got the 2J cam oil seal and not the 1J cam oil seal, now I feel like a dumbass. Everything is all cleaned up and shiney, just waiting on my new seals from Royal Moore.

I think your idea is brilliant making a 1 piece speedo cable. I'm pretty sure the rubber grommet is there to prevent rubbing that can eat through the speedo cable and cause it to break. Any pics of your speedo cable and how did you make it? Adam

The Soarer that made it in the latest issue of Modified magazine is pushing 750 RWHP on a stock 1J bottom end.

1985 SDR Supra 5mgTe (sweet supra build content inside)

Remember, laziness is expensive. If you do most of the work yourself you'll save a fortune. Hell, I've saved a few hundred dollars by having my buddy help me install my cams and injectors. Plus not being lazy allows you to learn, which is a very good thing. Keep up the good work.

Very, very nice bro. I like what you've done with it. The engine paint was a very nice choice, I love that color. Keep up the good work, that Supra has a good owner.

How screwed up is your family?

My dad is on his 7th marriage, twice the the same woman. I have 6 siblings from him. Only 1 possible full sibling that I've never met, the rest are half siblings. I have a half brother from him that I've never met that's 38 years old. My mom is on her 4th marriage and the guy she just...

I got as far as I could today without help getting the clearance specs. I got my A/C bolt cut off, a few wires cut and capped both under the intake manifold and the front passenger wheel well. I also got the throttle cable mounted and removed teh A/C sticker on the radiator support.

    1JZ scheme HELP!!

That's right, the 400 did most of the work. I really should have picked up some 1000 too, but oh well. Getting these 4 sizes will help get rid of all the divets while minimizing the removal of material. Also, make sure you use a sanding sponge. Never sand with a bare hand. You'll leave...

Anybody have a micrometer I can borrow?

The one I borrowed was very nice, top quality. In my house we have a rule. If you need it once borrow it, if you need it 3 times, buy it. No reason for me to buy a micrometer right now since God only knows when the next time I'd use it would be.

Thanks bro. If you need advice on polishing your aluminum parts, hit me up. Save yourself the time and hassle and buy a $8 can of spray on aircraft paint stripper, well worth the money since it saves an insane amount of time. And thank you for the compliment. Wait till they meet my standards...

She's coming together. Looking good bro. I'd polish the stuff that you can. It'll only cost a couple bucks in materials but it will take a couple days for what you have to do (which will keep you busy). Adam

    Just got my first Mk3!

Like CiFi said, since you don't have the time to pull the motor to put in a MHG keep your mods simple until you can get to a point where you can pull the motor to put in a MHG. I don't trust non-MHG's for a good reason, ask all the people on here who have has multiple BHG's (there's atleast a...
