Casgallo: Can't help ya with the parts, but if you need help/tools/ride I'll probably be going.
turboguy327: You're in Rochester, didn't know that. Hope to see you around Rochester or in Albany if you go :)
Search my old posts for the thread I posted in...I think I ordered it from Shaftmasters. Can't seem to find the damn receipt though, I'm trying to keep records of everything...
First time I put it in I didn't torque the DS/diff bolts, I just tightened them with a wrench to the 'that's tight...
Yeah the bends on the hose are killing me. Someone mentioned an 80s style SBC had the same hose on the PCV system IIRC but noone could ever source the correct part for some reason.
I might try that 90 degree coupler though, I'll call napa up and ask about it.
Thankee!
I don't mean to hijack your thread OP, so please don't hate me =X
Anyone know of a replacement hose, besides Toyota, for the oil/vapors hose to the right of the oil cap that runs behind the alternator?
For a mechanic who has done headgaskets on various cars before, half a day. As much as I'd go back and raise all hell with the guy for jipping you that badly, I'd be wary about his work. So be prepared to possibly go back there again and raise more hell, or bring a competent friend to argue with...
All the people I know that have WRX's/STI's run crazy pressures. Higher amount of pressure squeezing through an orifice, regardless of mass (mass == time spent squeezing out), will make a louder noise.
Laugh at him and his squeaking scooby as you walk him on the street.
I had to search for this thread to steal the links to those SAE articles...once again, thanks for the links jdub, and thanks for replying to my post :)
Crank touching oil == foaming/whipping as far as I know...which is extremely bad for oil. Thankee!
I just want to add that on the Purolator filters I've bought, there is a round piece of plastic on the bottom of the filter that curls up around the sides about a centimeter...effectively sesaling the inside of the filter. Nothing should get in there now ;)
I used a 4.5" cutoff wheel to cut off all the bolts on the front and rear of my car. Haven't done some on the rear yet, I'm getting to that very soon.
I went through two cutoff wheels per bolt, about...one for each side of the bolt. Takes me maybe 5 minutes to get them out now, you'll get used...
I absolutely KNOW one of the supra vendors had a kit, with the bov/air bypass valve, hoses and clamps in one package. I can't find it for the life of me. Anyone know what I'm talking about or have a link?
Please and thanks :)
I ended up installing a B&M SuperCooler (one of the larger ones) when I installed my Fluidyne radiator. All I keep hearing is 'A340E's hate getting hot!' so the bigger, the better, and the less problems you'll have down the road!
But yeah, that cooler is a wee bit small ;)
Welp, looks like I'll have to salvage the ones I have then ;)
No pics until tomorrow around 5 or 5:30 after I get out of work, but I'll post up a pic of the passenger side (good) and the problematic drivers side tabs.
Can the tabs be replaced? I'm thinking someone put one of the rear camber bolts on the front, hence the smaller camber bolt size on JUST this one bolt, and the smaller tabs.
I recently installed all new bushings on the front as well as new camber bolts, nuts, washers and those notched things. Three I took off (both passenger and the bolt on the rear of the driver's control arm) were exactly the same as the ones I installed, but the camber bolt on the front of the...
Cutting into it maybe 1/32 of an inch should be fine, just try not to do it again on the other side. If you cut all the way through, even on just a part of it, you have a problem ;) Otherwise don't worry haha.
I'll be writing a guide on this soon, just talked to Jeff the day before about it.
Look at your lower control arms (LCA's from here on out): pick a side, the front of the rear camber bolt bushing. Look at it from both sides...if one side looks like there is a metal sleeve insie of it, and the...
