The top stud in chips picture is 2.15" long, and the bottom is 2.12" long. For a 7M, they both thread in fully and there is enough threads on the outer part of both studs to tighten a nut down on the sensor. I think I prefer the long one as the large threads sit flush with the block, the other...
Chip: I'll order the studs today (along with some other stuff) and I'll PM you my address. I have old knock sensors lying around so I'll measure how much they both protrude and/or post pictures.
Good to know wire polarity doesn't matter, figured as much as all the other two wire knock sensors I...
The rear knock sensor on the 7M barely fits behind the starter as it is...will the stud + sensor from Toyota fit at all?
Edit: Also, two wires: polarity sensitive? One is ground?
Looks like the above info is working out in my favor (although still haven't found a decent source for the ECU terminals).
The other two are on back order and I'm not sure when they'll be shipped.
Absolutely agree (under those strict circumstances)! That's boiling the argument down quite a bit though.
I tried pretty hard to find out what modern cars being produced (or have been produced recently) use high/low impedance...and besides finding out (unsurprisingly) that...
So your car is stock hmm?
Not much to argue about really, with the electrical background of yours you should know you can use high impedance injectors on a low impedance circuit. And if you disagree, I'd laugh and take a picture of my engine and tell you you're wrong...
Wrong, peak and hold are low impedance injectors, saturated are high impedance injectors. They open 1 or 2 milliseconds faster and the difference is only noticeable when trying to tune larger than 1000cc injectors, and if the injectors are old as dirt. Both injectors work exactly the same...
It's possible to spit a shim with underbucket shims? Didn't know that!
Hoping to wind mine up to 8k this summer one way or another, the shims were the only thing I didn't want to chance. Even at 8k the rods aren't traveling fast enough to fail with the stock stroke, I'm kind of excited ha...
They are minimal at best, hardly worth mentioning. Google is your friend on this one.
Just so you know, high impedance injectors will work just fine on low impedance circuitry, a la our MKIIIs ;)
te72: you brought up the AEM, do you have an AEM or did Albert switch over to one? I thought he had an EMU.
IJ.: Well, never mind. I was going to ask why you preferred shimless buckets over underbucket shims, but I guess if you get it right the first time you won't be touching it for a few...
You don't need to do the j tube mod, that's for cars making more power/flowing more fuel than stock.
Check your timing already, it's probably not right. Not that annoying to do either.
If you have no cats, I doubt you have an exhaust blockage of any sort. If you have the stock DP then yes you...
I bought 500 ft of 16 gauge Tefzel, in addition to the ~100 ft I had lying around and ~50 feet of shielded two conductor I bought for the ignition stuff and the CPS. I'm in the process of sourcing the few connectors and pins that aren't obvious, I've got some stuff from mouser coming that I can...
I took a vehicle suspension class in college and stumbled upon the pdf of the textbook we were using. It was old (over 10 or 15 years) but covered a wide range of topics and a wide range of suspensions. If you'd like it as reading material or even to browse through let me know, it's on my other...
It's his own opinion, old people get cranky when they get too hot/too cold/feel too comfortable, or when other people's stuff isn't exactly how said old person would own it. Nothing some Lawrence Welk can't fix.
Mine has never worked and the condensor had a big crack/dent in it (found this after I pulled it out). Wasn't going to pay to fix the whole system because I've honestly never needed to use it before, 65* + fan is good enough for me, with the windows down.
Engine is coming out in a few weeks so...
