A friend of mine had a severe power steering leak. He just filled it up with diff fluid to slow the leak. It worked pretty well. That could get you by until you can afford to have it fixed or until its warm enough to fix it your self. Either way good luck.
When your turbo looks like that start saving for a rebuild or a replacement stocker. I did the latter because I was a long way from taking the step to upgrading...and money was tight. Look in the parts for sale section...I picked up a mint shape stocker for $150.
I'm seriously considering a tow hook. When I had my car loaded onto a flatbed it scraped the stock lip pretty hard. Also the straps deformed the front bumper and lip quite a bit while loading. I was worried about it. Keep in mind that I have H&R's:aigo:
Unless you completely removed all the pipes you really dont know if they are cracked. From what you have said, we all know you have a boost leak. Build a boost leak tester and check out your car. Most likely it will be the lower pipe going to the turbo. That pipe is almost impossible to see...
You will seriously want to rebuild that diff with a Tru Trac. Go to celicasupra.com and look in the FAQ. I beleive it has held up to and above those power levels before. HTH
Bought the car 2 years ago for 5000 CDN.
Including all paint/body work, performance parts and other repairs as necessary I'm sitting at around 7k CDN.
Grand Total of 12k...and counting.
I could have bought a year old Pontiac Sunfire for that and had a warranty...and an overwhelming urge...
Dont use Rhino lining. There are many better products that will be considerably better for sound dampening. Also, don't use an asphalt based product. These will not stay in place when applied to anything but a horizontal surface.
Do some research on sound deaening products. There is some...
Im looking for a 1993 -1998 Grand Cherokee. In Canada the prices arent very reasonable. Just over the border in Ohio etc. there are many Jeeps that fit my requirements for hlaf the price. If it isn't too much of a PITA I would prefer to buy a cheaper American vehicle.
I was wondering if anyone on here has tried to import a vehicle form the states. Im looking to possibly buy a DD from the States and would then need to get it into the country. If those of you with experience/knowledge could give me an overview of the process it would help alot.
thanks
Ya I think I will be doing a compression check as soon as the thermometer gets back into positive numbers. If it turns out to be the turbo, I'm buying some new flexible oil lines. I've done it twice the hard way, there will not be a third.
The most recent time I had the IC pipes off was to install a lower hard pipe. There was some oil in the but not more than usual.
I did not notice any loss of power after it started smoking. Actually, it was running as good as it has ever run.
The reason I am worried about burning oil...
A little background:
Last spring I had a new HKS MHG and valve stems seals installed. After this I had no oil burning issues. Until now...:3d_frown:
I recently started the car to let it warm up while in storage. When I started the car there was a small cloud of blue smoke. This looked...
I dont understand how people can give you advice when you havent given us any information. If you have a 7 inch wide rim how the hell are you going to fit 285's? You might want to look into offsets as well...they kinda affect things.
I had an 18 inch resonator put into my exhaust when I had it built. There is minimal drone at any RPM. I would say it the worst at rought 2200...but even then its not bad at all. A resonator might be what you want. HTH
