My car doesnt idle right and it running extremely rich. THe only time it clears up is at full throttle, It acts like its missing all the way till then. When I disconnect the MAF sensor it doesnt change the idle of the car at all. The car smokes black smoke like crazy. I took it to a shop because the subframe needed to be replaced and it ran fine when I droped it off, but its running like crap now. Any ideas?

also my turbo is spooling up when you give it a little gas when the car is sitting there. I don't think it was doing that before. Could it be a boost leak? The wierd thing is that at full throttle its fine.

yes that def sounds like a serious boost leak. perhaps they knocked loose one of the ic pipes/couplers. if you can hear the turbo id def take a look at the one from the turbo to ic.

they had to pull the frame a little, but the guys at the shop said it was running like that the first time they started it. It never ran like that for me though.

it sounds like a boost leek. just check ALL the intake pipes. happened to me once. mine was the pipe comming off the turbo.

same thing happened to me, the pipe from my turbo had a terrible whole in it. however, you car will run lean under vacuum and rich under boost if you have a boost leak. this is because it will pull air in (vacuum) during regular driving conditions, and push (boost) air out when you're full throttle. my car would shut off momentarily when i had a boost leak, just like it was hitting boost cut. it may have run well because you didn't have a whole, but i know if the pipes rub against the body for very long at all, it will create a whole in the pipes

so a boost leak will make the car run horrible at idle and make the turbo rev when you are parked? the only time it smooths out is if you go WOT. other than that it just wants to sputter. Its not even drivable like it is.

I'm gonna check those out. Maybe something came loose when they were pulling the frame. The guys at the shop are telling me that they think the MAF or O2 sensor is bad. They are just saying that on how its running they haven't really looked at it yet.

Yes.

Your IC pipe coming off the turbo might have slid all the way off. That is what happened to me. It made the turbo sound awesome, but it was blowing all the air to the ground.

cool hopefully thats what it is and I can finally drive the car.

I am experiecing a similar problem.. I still have the stock turbo to intercooler lower hoses. I think mine must have a massive hole in it. My car on the other hand runs great at low rpms until you hit boost and then it acts the like ignition switch has been turned off. Check your intercooler hoses.

I checked the ic hoses and they all looked good. they are all on and tight and i didnt see any breaks. they car won't even stay running now unless you give it gas. after the car shuts off you can still hear airflow though.

Unless you completely removed all the pipes you really dont know if they are cracked. From what you have said, we all know you have a boost leak. Build a boost leak tester and check out your car. Most likely it will be the lower pipe going to the turbo. That pipe is almost impossible to see unless it is off the car. HTH

*EDIT* If you determine that your lower IC piping is cracked/broken I have a lower hard pipe for sale. It is the speed source lower pipe that sells for around $100. I used it for the summer but have since spent 450 on a full set of hard pipes. PM me if you are interested.
