K, Any brands to steer clear of?

Im about to be in that area of the motor, I wanna replace my oil pump. Is getting a used one from someone on here a safe idea or is that just dumb? I CAN get a new one but for $200 its steep. Are there parts I can replace to make mine like new? Im not too savvy about this part of the car...
