Swapping the whole harness really would be your best bet. You said the other car was totalled, so if you still have all the pieces and you're swapping over a lot of your parts to the new one, then you should have most of the stuff off the car anyway. I've pulled harnesses from a couple cars...
Seems like a waste if you're just running horn wires through it.
But it is a sweet hub. I ran one on our FSAE car for a couple years. One year we had the whole display on the steering wheel and others it was used for the push button shifting system. But it made things so much cleaner...
If you want to. But the whole car will be getting painted one color. Well that is if we can ever decide on a color. But right now we'll have a mix of white, black and blue body panels plus whatever color the body kit stuff is.
Thanks guys. And it's not really like it's a new project, we were just replacing one of the parts of the car, granted it's a big part and everything attaches to it. But we really aren't doing any more work than we would've done if the white chassis wasn't rusty.
But since my brother forgot, here's some pics of the white car before it got stripped and pretty much what we're working from.
The blue one will be a little different, I'm going to pick the least ugly body kit for the car and it will be all one color. The car will look nice and clean at...
I actually kind of wanted a targa. It's going to be fully caged and I would cut out a lot of the extra bracing, so the weight wouldn't even be an issue. And it's just fun driving around in the street in a targa/vert car with a cage in it. But I'll probably just do an S13 or FC vert with a...
There was a lot more rust on the white car than I wanted to deal with. And the owner of Englishtown Raceway kind of gave the blue one to me. And there's not enough space to keep both, so one had to go. The blue one looked like it was in better shape, so we kept that one and threw out the...
You need longer studs. The stock studs are short because the stock lug nuts go partly through the wheel. Some aftermarket wheels without spacers won't fit properly with the stock studs because of too thick of a wheel pad. If you want to run the spacers, you're going to need to get longer...
This car is going to be amazing when it's done. Once the car is stripped and the motor and stuff is pulled, I'm going to be starting on the cage.
I need to shorten the dampers because at the height we were running and with the helper springs, we were running out of travel in the back. So...
Not really. You're forgetting about the friction force between the wheel pad and the brake rotor. Even with a lower friction coefficient, you have 5 studs torqued to 75-80ft-lbs which equals a lot of pressure.
Hubcentric is just good for making sure that the wheel is centered. But if you...
I don't think you realize what you're doing with that. This isn't one of those "let's bash Hommer's dumb ideas" post, this is a "that's not a good idea and could very possibly break if you drive on it" post.
What you're doing with those arms like that is overconstaining the suspenion. I...
Is that wider than the narrow body or wider than the wide body stock fenders? Didn't japan have a lot of the narrow body cars? And we got the widebody fenders? If they're 35mm wider than our fenders, then that would be a nice improvement.
Yeah, but those fenders are ugly. And they don't say if they're wider than stock and they don't tell you how much they weigh. The metal fenders alone aren't that heavy and there's a possibility that those could be as heavy or heavier than the stock fenders.
I'm not looking past making...
I don't think any of the 3m Spray Adhesives would be strong enough to keep the wing on or last for that long. There are tons of different epoxies that you could use. But they might be a little more permanent.
I don't think you're going to find anything that's strong enough to hold it on...
Tyler got 2nd in the Porsche. That thing is fast, but I hear it's expensive to fix if it crashes.
And Clubloose is awesome. You should definitely come out. This is where all the Drift Alliance guys got their start. It's definitely a good time.
I wouldn't replace the windshield with lexan. Besides not being legal for a lot of sanctioning bodies, it would just get screwed up real quick on a car that gets driven frequently.
But sides and hatch are definitely going to be done.
Lighter subframes would be great, but the cost...
I mean there are always groups and friends, but I always thought are events were pretty good for new people. Everyone is friendly and people love to see new stuff, so having a Supra come out would be awesome. And I'm one of the guys that runs the events, so just come and find me, I'll always...
Who's Dan?
And you need to cut some weight out of that car and it will make it a lot more fun and a lot better on brakes, tires, etc. Or are you running in a certain class and can't do stuff like that?
Sub 3k shouldn't be too hard with a Targa either. I mean if the cage is well built...
I was there. It was hot, like way too hot to be there. But it was a good event.
D1 might have been a little better from a spectator perspective, but the course wasn't that great. The road course is so much better. And from the stands, you could see the whole course. I didn't go in the...
