Is there an adhesive safe for body panels?

Hello forum,

I'm putting a impact resistant liner under my bomex whale tale to cover the areas where the wing contacts the quarter panels.

I know 3M has spray on adhesives: a regular duty and heavy duty variant. Would these be safe?

The most important characteristic of the adhesive would be it's durability and removal capabilities. If for whatever reason I need to remove(possible to reapply liner,) the liner, I can remove the adhesive without damaging the paint.

Any suggestions would be fantastic.

I already made the templates for the body protectors, I just need to adhere them.

Thanks

Bump...I've been looking for an adhesive that works. So far the only one one that seems safe is 3m SuperAdhesive(spray,) although it will leave yellowing underneath.

Any help?

Thanks

yes. i have seen some body kits that come with it for like side skirts. i don't know where you would buy it though. maybe try buying some off a body shop.

I don't think any of the 3m Spray Adhesives would be strong enough to keep the wing on or last for that long. There are tons of different epoxies that you could use. But they might be a little more permanent.

I don't think you're going to find anything that's strong enough to hold it on and be durable that you will be able to remove easily without hurting the paint. I just don't think that's possible.

What about bolting it?

Sorry gentlemen,

I worded my question improper-like.

I bolted and double-side taped the wing to the body.

My question concerned the parts of the wing that overhand the quarter panels.

In conjunction with my GF, we made rubber pads that sit on both the wing and quarterpanels, fitted. They require adhesive that is both rubber and paint safe. Luckily, we used Permatex Spray Adhesive, opposed to 3M, which fits the description above.

The rubber pads, "Whale Condoms," protects your Supra from possible damage (or already damaged) quarter panels from the Bomex Whale Tail design.

Thanks for the help forum,

Matt-
