I had rust behind a few different mouldings on both sides of the car. I had rust in both rear fenders and they both required new metal. I had a rust hole in the bottom of the passenger door as well. There were also small bubbles around the door...
That would be me.;) The only tool in my car removes my targa. Whenever I break something I need parts anyways so what's the point. Also, I'm sure as shit not going to be the guy standing on the side of the highway with my head buried in the engine bay. That is seriously unsafe.

What's the cross sectional area of the narrowest section of the 1G pipe? I think this is really interesting and most people running the big front mounts might benefit from it if the 1G pipe can flow the volume. Regardless it still has the benefit of not going over the turbo so YAY for that...
How is the quality of the rest of the paint on the car? When I had my car done I was able to blend the panels since my paint was near perfect except for the rust spots. Have you taken off all the trim? I bet you will find more rust than you think you have now. I know I did.;)
This link shows the mufflers he used. Mine is the 14816. He also modifies the 14815 which has slightly smaller tips (3" instead of 3.5"). I prefer the 3.5 tips for a Mk3 and the 3" tips on the Mk2.
