in the 1998 Z28 I had, I think it was pretty close to right. I think I had about 280 is what is said which is about right for a stock LS1 with a catback. My Civic seems to get a reading that would be correct but Matts Green Turd doesn't like it thats for sure.
After talking to Matt this morning about this...I get the feeling I am pwned by him...that should clear things up. I guess I will be doing any setup before hand sense I only work twice as many hours in a week as he does.
all my dealings with the Chimp have been very positive. I trust him as a person and would beleive whatever he tells you.
Though I have not bought an engine from him.
good luck.
I'm not promoting running it like this...or saying its ok...but its not the end of the world as we know it...it needs to be fix. But oil its self is not going to make the HG leak or cause any damage just by its self.
I don't see why this would be a concern...If the MHG can handle the high pressures of a boosted engine then why would some oil in the cyclinder cause problems?
Yes...leaky valve stems seals could cause that. If they are leaking the oil will run down the valve and onto the piston.
Why did you pull the head to change the seals...this can be done with the head on the engine?
I just replaced my HG with a stock gasket and did ARP Studs and torqued them to 81 ft lbs. then retorqued there again about 2 weeks later to 81 ft lbs. again. Running 8 psi right now with no problems. Once I get a new DP and Ext, I will probably see what 12 will do but won't go higher then that.
Post up some pics...this thing could be very nice if it was never drove in the winter.
Does the car run now? If so how does it feel. If all the maintance was kept on it then you could good for many more miles.
