    Injectors?

Personally, I favor the RC units.

radiator in place of ac condenser

The two that I have seen had a radiator custom built from PWR, then built their own custom hoses. Be warned, this wasn't a route for the thrifty - I don't think either of the guys I know spent less than $2k on this.

Strategic planning for home invasion situation

Rules on firearms at home make them useless for defense up here... however, that means two things... folks breaking into houses rarely carry firearms either, and this tends to favor the defenders: Realistically, though, if someone breaks in to take my television, they can have it. Hell, I'll...

    New art project

For those of you familiar with my previous work, this will likely look familiar. I'm finally biting the bullet and taking on the Mk4. It's significantly more difficult than the Mk2 and Mk3, as soon as you start it's obvious that all the sizes are significantly different... which may work fine...

    SupraSport under new ownership

Any details on this? Like, who are the new owners? Why would they buy a Supra related store? Are the old staff still going to be involved in the business?

News from Jalopnik New Supra? UPDATED INFO from JalopniK

The problem with mass production sports cars has always been price vs. market. In today's world, with our safety regs, and the tech that goes into every car - even the compact, green cars, it's going to cost a fair bit to make a sports car. The market share for sports cars is pretty much...

Question for all you stereo guys out there

This is common enough, however the reasoning is similar to an RV setup, in that you have an isolated battery for the stereo. That way if you kill the stereo battery, you can still start and drive your car using the regular battery. As soon as your car is running, the isolator shuts off and the...

Old hick doesn't care for supramania

Two things. 1. Toyota DOES still have it new. 2. This isn't as uncommon as you would think - there are still a LOT of folks that aren't really online, especially the original baby boomers.

    What a dead hole!

Winter? Dude, your car sleeps more than it's awake.

    Smoke machine

No chance it's the oil squirters, that wouldn't account for oil in the intake. Why did you rebuild the engine originally? When you did so, did you pull off the intercooler & piping and clean it out, or might there be a lot of oil from prior to the rebuild sitting in there, causing problems now?

RainX does the same thing, and it's a LOT easier to apply. :)

Electric fan control idea. Looking for comments.

It's really a matter of setting your temp triggers to different points. In my car, the thermostat opens at ~75C, IIRC, and the fans come on at ~80 something. So if the car is warm, the thermostat is open, but if you're cruising in temps where the outside air isn't hot, it's possible for the...

    Thinnest allowable valve shim?

That's pretty simple to check, too - measure the lip on your bucket. It's a fair bit less than 2.5mm, that's for sure.

Help me figure this out melted piston crowns who is to blame

You could order a new head while sitting in front of your computer... short of that, no.

    Thinnest allowable valve shim?

I've known many folks to have shims cut down to much thinner than the 2.5mm - never heard about any problems, whether that's because the engines popped due to other reasons tho, well, who knows. I don't think I'd be too concerned with shaving one by enough to work there. Also, has this head...

How much have you spent on your MkIII

First, I can say that I'm safely over that. Second, there are folks with well over 50k into their car, *not* including the cost of the car. Third, adding this up leads to stupid decisions - like selling your car, for instance. Never add up the cost of your hobbies.

News from Jalopnik New Supra? UPDATED INFO from JalopniK

Agreed. I'd be really surprised if it were under 100k. Consider this: Mk2 was ~17k in 1985 Mk3 was ~29k in 1989 Mk4 was ~51k in 1995 Just adjusting for inflation, that makes it: Mk2 is ~35k today Mk3 is ~51k today Mk4 is ~73k today So logically, they've boosted the price by ~44% each time...

News from Jalopnik New Supra? UPDATED INFO from JalopniK

Because that's the price range it's been in. The Supra has never been able to compete against the Mustang / Camaro because it's a crapload more coin.
