That's only true for pre-89's. Actually not just when installing JDM taillights, even USDM's require the two extra holes drilled when installing on pre 89's

it won't say in the VIN if it's a HT or a targa, as technically all sunroofs are hardtops to begin with..

No, only 91/92 supe's had factory sunroofs, anything pre 91 with a sunroof has a dealer installed glass one... Its the best of both worlds, lose the rigidity of a hardtop, with the leakiness of a targa!

JDM taillights are the same as USDM taillights, the only difference is actually the paint on the center section, and the reflective plastic on the inside of the tails, not the outer housings.. JDM bulb holders DO NOT have the wiring for rear side markers, so you'd have to source a USDM set if...

Real JDM pre 89 fogs are bright as hell, probably due to the bumper design, points up slightly... my 86.5 has JDM fogs, and MAN they're bright...I love it..:D love your car, especially the trim, I believe it was offered on JDM 86.5's and 88's only, 1987 trim is the same as pre 89 USDM trim...

the thing with 92s is if you had the subwoofer (SUPER RARE), then you got the rear carpet with a hole cut out for it, molded for the spare tire, no wooden board, and no rear bins... my 92 didn't have it, so I have the woodboard and cubbies like on my 89 and 86.5...

Jeff the man explained it all.. I have 91 panels in my 89, and they're identical to the shadow gray panels my 92 came with, except for the color (blue vs shadow gray) 91/92's have identical interiors, unless you have leather, in which case 91's had gray leather but shadow gray everything else...

funny, I replaced my blue NGK wires with black ones, I hated the blue wires...

just go with an R154, they're much cheaper, easier to find, bolt up to the 2JZ if you're using a 1JZ bellhousing, and what everyone else forgot to mention, WONT HAVE TO SWAP YOUR DIFFERENTIAL.. the mkiii gearing is way too high for the V160/V161...
