you can fit an 89+ lip on a pre 89, but it needs to be one that sits below the bumper like a bomex lip, and not one that goes into the creases, like a hiro lip.. it wont' fit great, and it'll stick out in a few places, but it's "liveable"...

They're not hard at all to replace, I've done it to my 89 and 92, takes about 3 minutes per side, even less if someone is helping..

yeah, the motor mounts and cross member switched to a different style in late 89, but all you have to do is switch out the mounts for your old ones and you're good to go.. same with the rear/mid mounted oil pan..

point of curiosity, how did you deal with the center taillight panel..? did you shave that as well..?
