You should try to get it to start before you pull the motor back out. Like I said before, it's probably something simple that's being overlooked. If you've got spark, fuel, and air it should at least try to kick over. I'm still curious about the timing. Get it running and then if you still...

Take the body harness out of your 89. I won't lie, it can be a bitch at times but unless you want to find another wiring harness for you engine then this is the best option. I swapped the body harness out of my 87 into my 86.5 so I could have the supermonitor so it can be done, it's just labor...
