Okay so granted they are not going to be Sparco, Bride, or Recaro's but not all of us want or can spend 400 bucks a seat for racing seats. Cipher Auto makes some average looking racing seats for about 250 a pair. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these and what their thoughts were. NRG's go for about 200 a pop so these are significantly cheaper than even those. Let me know what yall think.

Something that cheap scares me. Seats are a part of a safety system. Any racing seat needs to be installed with proper harnesses and harness bars.

Seats are about last thing ypu should cheap out on.

If you can't afford a few hundred per seat, maybe you should NOT buy seats.

Agree 100%, I used the stock seats in my old Z car and just had my upholstry guy retrim for the harness holes I put in them....

During my accident the back of the seat collapsed (rearward impact at speed) causing most of my major injuries (broke my back in 6 places)..

Cheap seats also feel and look cheap, and fade very quickly, if the chance of death isn't a deterrent enough.

I put a set of OEM seats from another car in mine. I had to weld brackets for them, but I've heard many honda seats will nearly bolt right in. RSX and S2000 included.

ouch! That type of stuff scares the crap out of me. Make sure its certified for an accident. As shown OEM if it fails it can cause some damage but i cant imagine what a cheapo seat not certified would do besides death.

Looks like it shifted the steering all the way over to the other side of the car too, must have been a bad one... :nono:

What's wrong with OEM seats? I nearly put Mk3 seats into the Miata I had, weight be damned, they're the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. :)

That is the only problem. :)

Unfortunately though, its a big one. Stock seats vs good aftermarket light seats can be a 100lb difference. Though, by the time you add in the proper equipment for aftermarket seats, it may be a draw...

Well, between harnesses vs seat belts, and a proper bar/cage setup, I think you'd still come out ahead in the long run, if only by the weight of a spare tire... Could always get one of the rare non-power driver seats, they're not very common here in the US, but they're not impossible to find.

I've never much cared, I'm around 120-130lbs, so the weight of the car itself never really bothered me. Now, a car like a Miata, MR2, Elise, etc... that is where weight actually has a significant effect on performance.

Personally the drivers seat hurts my back. Its the factory 21 year old seat and the car has a lot of miles on it.. maybe it needs more cushion...

There are tons of other seats that are way lighter and just as comfortable as the supra seats.
Thanks for suggesting a few to check out Steven! :D

I'm looking forward to sitting in an NSX sometime in the next few years, those seats look pretty awesome as far as comfort and support go. Not positive they would fit though.
