Slave Cylinder hole is a straight shot, and with an extension, gets your hands away from working in the small area through the access panels. It just saves the knuckles a bit.

The easiest way to access the pressure plate is through the hole where the slave cylinder goes. Remove the slave, and turn the motor with a ratchet at the crank pulley bolt. You'll want to remove them just like taking a wheel off of the car, not bolt by bolt as it comes around. PS....To edit...

It is a very common misconception that all grey plugged harnesses are the same. The 89 has it's own. 91 and 92 are the same. And, I am not sure on the 90, if it is the same as 91-92, or if it is different. They went to the air bag in 90, so it for sure is not the same as 89.

Yes. It can be done, and it is not hard, but I believe I still have a couple of issues with it. I have never gotten my car to run correctly since doing my harness, so I'm not sure of what may be causing the couple of issues I have. If you have access to a 91 harness, I would recommend it.
