The least of my worries where this car is concerned. It doesn't leak and it's not a daily driver. In fact this car may become a parts car if I can find a nice N/A to do a transplant with.
My daily driver is an SC400. Black on black. Love it but just be aware that SC's are not trouble free. Aging luxury cars can be quite expensive to maintain.
I lowered my car with B&G springs. 1.5 inches on all four corners. I'm liking the look and the ride is not bad at all, just really contemplating putting the stock springs back on when I get my stock 5-spokes powdercoated and new tires put on them. I like the stock ride and cruising in my thing...
I'm having the same problem with my SC400. With mine it's the lower control arm bushings, which is a problem with these cars equivalent to BHG in a Supra. Two brand new MKIV TT LCA's are going on it next weekend. They're a direct fit and hundreds of $$ cheaper than Lexus brand. Good luck!
About a $30 fix.
I hate how I can't find a coolant leak but can see coolant on the hoses and piping. It can never be black and white. So much grey! Haha
Congrats on a rare 5-speed SC. Same chassis as a MKIV so using their suspension is an option. That's what I'm about to do on my SC400. Get on ClubLexus if you haven't already. It's the Supramania of Lexus SC's lol.
Well a couple of years ago, Julia, the purdy lady who bought my 86.5 Supra, unfortunately wrecked it. She's been holding on to it since then to part out until last week when it went to it's final resting place.
The day she bought it.
The day it went away...
Replaced the first elbow with a used one and it lasted a couple of days. Was told if both cable were bad it could be putting too much tension on the cable inside the elbow. That's when I replaced everything, both cables and the elbow and wrapped that section of the downpipe and cable with a...
The elbow off the tranny keeps breaking on my car. Those bitches aren't cheap either. That last brand new one I put in lasted 91 miles before it broke and I installed all new cables with it also. I suspect the heat off the downpipe from the gt35r is killing it.
You will in a pack of 3 on the way to Vegas!
The supe made down to Houston and back ok. It sprung another coolant leak somewhere. I have yet to investigate so it sits in the driveway.
Well a quick update.
I've lowered the car with B&G springs. Ruined a shock in the process because it is now leaking but a new one will have to wait.
I've replaced the BOV with a recirculating one and that has cleared up the stalling issues and running rich.
Had to replace a caliper that was...
Just to clear up what the problem was it was the BOV. I've since put a recirculating BOV on and it's running much better and not stalling out and running too rich. I hope this thread helps someone else.
