hate to start a thread for this but i can not find any pics of an undertray on an mkIII car to save my life. Does it cover all the way to the front lip? Up to just the IC or what? And how far behind the radiator does it go?

Mine never had it and its a bit warm for my liking at idle and sitting in traffic. Cools perfectly once moving but temps creap up near 200F if parked with ac on full in this 80%+ humidty we have been having and near 90 degree temps

It connects close to the front lip area and extends back to the front subframe right where the A-arms connect to it. You should see the screw holes for it.

awesome, thats what i needed. thanks guys.

side note: is it going to improve cooling at idle or is it more for highway speeds?

I would think both, since it's supposed to help the radiator fan draw air through the radiator rather than from underneath the bumper and engine.

Fan shroud, fan clutch both check out. Thermo stat is new. FLuidyne rad etc... no leaks cools perfectly except when left idling for long periods now that its getting hotter. No ac = maybe 190d temps. The heat load from the condenser is whats pushing it to the limit with the lack of air flow.

My IC , and oil lines all run just level with the front lip maybe a tad higher. (About an inch below the lower radiator support max). i dont think a stock undertray is going to work for me. Will the tray like the one above that blocks the air under the front lip be of any benefit?

I dont fully understand how the negative pressure system works or how far behind the radiator fan it would need to go to keep it functional. Any input?

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
We're talking about 10 degrees. Are you suggesting your cooling system has that little reserve capacity? I seriously doubt it (especially with that radiator) but if so you have bigger problems than that tray will solve and if not the tray will make zero difference...

I cant get it over 200 degrees . Ill hold off and observe it more as the weather gets hotter.
Pushed to the limits may not be the correct term, adding a load to the system that i was not used to seeing is more like it.

Grim i see ur point of view .....i will be idleing in line at TacoBell and the dam stock temp gauge cuz up like alill more then half way this only happens at Idle for more then 10mins ...while i have the clutch Fan, Condenser and Rad.Fan running with the Fan shroud and no A/C

i have a brand new stock RAd. along with a NEw Thermostat and No LEAks! I also have no undertray....IT's Getting HOT in MIami FLorida

i would hate to think our thermostats are sticking already

Its from a MA70 ... But good luck in finding one. Never been able to source it, just ran across pictures of the item somewhere on here.

Thought about making my own out of carbon fiber, maybe this summer???

^ if your stock gauge is moving at all, your up over 220 degrees. My stock gauge wont budge from 170-200 degrees.

200 is perfectly fine. If it keeps creeping up I'd start to worry. Above 210 and I'll start to get concerned.

The a/c adds a lot of heat to the air coming into the radiator.

I dont think the undertray will do anything at idle/stopped anyways.

the thermostat opens at 190 so yeah^ 200 aint bad really. i have no undertray and live in vegas right now its been 100* out and my stock gauge has never moved from a lil under half way where its supposed to be.

with the a/c on the condenser gets hotter giving higher temps for the radiator.

If someone decides to make one, make it with an access panel for oil changes, one screw in each corner, easy to take out and put back.

ours supras are supposed to have a 190* thermostat? or will be OKAY to get a lower degree thermostat?
my stock temp gauge goes up only when idleing for about 8mins with a/c on blast other then that it never moves....I WOUldnt mind an undertray one with a hole for the damm Oil PLug
