Turns out the package was indeed a distributor cap. Problem is, it wasn't the right one. The AEX engine can use either a Bosch distributor, or the slightly better Marelli one. I got sent the Bosch one. So in typical British fashion, i gritted my teeth and ordered the other one, and now have to...
Prometheus is the only one other than the Avengers that i'm actually looking forward to. Hell, i'm planning my whole 30th Birthday around being able to go to see Prometheus - the trailers look epic...
They didn't just sound cool, they had soul, they looked cool and they were the underdogs, trying to compete in the space that wasn't filled with GM or Ford at the time. Ignore the fact that the Imp was assembled in Scotland by shipyard workers who had all the finesse of a hammer, the technical...
I love the old Hillman....i have a 'thing' for both the Hillman Imp Californian and the Hillman Avenger Tiger 2-door. Such a shame Chrysler ploughed them into the ground :(
This model of Polo was assembled in a few different countries, and never heard of any of them going 'bad', at least not in the way that was described. Most of them are pretty solid and simple enough that you can't really get it wrong.
BTW - British cars don't really exist anymore...
...this has been nowhere near brazil, either. This one was assembled in Wolfsburg, Germany. And yes, the dealers and techs are often clueless. I got told by my local one that 'oh you might need to replace the carburettor'. It's multipoint fuel injection. The 6N's never had carbs. I'm still not...
The shims are important.
The bolt tightening sequence is important.
Doing things properly is important. Half assing ANYTHING on this engine is going to result in you paying, usually financially. This is a 20 year old GT car we're talking about as well. It's a tight tolerance multivalve DOHC...
...alternatively you could just get the correct connectors:
90980-10737 & 90980-10735 - they come with pigtails, iirc, and they're about $9 each.
82998-12190 is the Female Terminal part number, just in case.
No. There's nothing wrong with this. I know about VW's. Yes, the gearboxes aren't particularly strong, but look at the hp & torque of the engines used. I find that a lot of people saying 'oh my friend had one of these and they suck' generally have no clue what they're doing with the cars in...
No room for it in the bay, and i don't have $2200 for one either - if i did, i'd be dropping one in one of the two Supra's here!
The biggest factory engine that's plug & play in the polo shell, is the 2.0 litre 16v ABF - 150hp N/A. I have one in my Mk3 Golf GTi 16v, but that's staying firmly...
Not gonna happen :p
The most that's going to be done to this engine, is fitting the camshaft from a Mk2F Polo GT. That's a 1.3 engine, same EA111 design, but the cam will be about 4/5 teeth out - so i'll need a vernier pulley to use it. That instantly adds about 13-15hp. After that, *maybe* get...
Okay first of all - can you please keep build threads separate, in the correct section. Secondly, please use better spelling & grammar, it's hard to read what you're posting.
