Well that sure does look like the final design! Looks good to me. I'm anxious to see what kind of presence it has in person. And of course... what the final specs turn out to be for engine and trans.
Valid point, I suppose. Depends what causes the damage. If I hit a big rock, sure. I think the complete failure point of many of the hoses and fittings is well below a chassis jarring collision though. Full throttle with some music playing and I could see not hearing something happen that could...
Re: The Legend Returns!
If it really comes out with a TT I-6 and a true manual transmission it'd be the first car I'd actually be considering buying new. Sans manual though... meh.
Yes, but there is a massive, monumental difference between the stock system and full flow in that scenario. The stock system can take a hit to the line, spill oil and actually be perfectly functional if the pressure relief valve closes well. An aftermarket full flow in the same situation would...
I wouldn't make the assumption any 7M oil pump is a truly fixed volume pump. If the gears seal perfectly it's theoretically a fixed volume pump, but I doubt that's actually the case. Is it negligible? I don't know. As seems to be the theme of this thread... without data it's all a guessing game...
The benefit is wire tuck lyfe yo! Super clean!
... /sarcasm.
I don't get it either. When I've looked at buying a MK3 it's one of the first things that could disqualify a purchase.
If you're going standalone then those systems might add some complexity that some people don't want to...
Haha, sounds familiar. I work with datalogs of industrial metering equipment.
With millions of data points we still struggle to make the kind of sweeping comments you find on the forums with enough confidence to actually publish any of it. Very different worlds.
The thermal imaging is...
+1 for data on this stuff! There seems to be little readily available hard data and a whole lot of opinions and anecdotal evidence. I'm anxious to go standalone simply for the sake of logging the crap out of various parameters and how they change.
Your car, but IMO, straight pipe on a mostly stock 7M is ricey as hell and obnoxious without the performance to back any of it up. It's one thing to be straight piped on a monster of a motor. It's an entirely different story on a stock car. DM carries a cat back for like $300.
550's and the Lex...
Slow down here. For $1k I think it's pretty simple. Your options are very limited at that point.
1. Full 3" Exhaust, turbo back.
2. Upgraded CT26. The smaller the more reliable and lower boost threshold, the larger the more peak power.
3. Clutch. Stock won't last too long at ~325+ whp.
4. If...
I thought your OEM comment was about the Supra. AKA Not OEM for the MK3.
Alcantara or Suede is all over modern performance cars for most makes now , at least as an option. I think Lexus is behind in that regard. It's mostly higher end specs because it will wear like crap for the average driver...
There's a big jump in your required budget to make over ~350rwhp, IMO. Under that power level you can stick with stock electronics and the CT-26 (perhaps with an increased trim) along with most the stock mechanical parts. Everything's easy under that level. To go above, you start to run up...
I just looked at the pics and they appear to be black oxide. I'm surprised they'd rust that quickly, but they're definitely a far cry from SS. I wonder if DM knows about the issue. Switching to SS screws would cost an extra few bucks at most. A few bucks most anyone would be willing to pay.
That's dumb. I wonder what kind of screws are used in that kit. If not SS I would expect the OEM Toyota. If it's rusting already, it must be super cheap stuff or non-plated steel.
I'm saying I'd like to have an assembly that functions as a sandwhich plate adapter with a built in thermostat and filter mount - all in one "block".
I agree with the remote filter mount you wouldn't eliminate anything.
That's pretty neat, thanks for the links. Reducing the number of fittings in that circuit is well worth a premium in my mind. Now I just wish there was an option to combine the block adapter into that assembly as well so you have zero flow through any connections or lines when cold. That'd drop...
Good point on the misfire showing as lean. I don't think you were overly rich through the rest of the powerband though. I'd rather be a little rich than a little lean. ;)
Funny you should say that... I scraped my Tanabe after only a hand full of times pulling into my driveway. The angle required to scrape the lip the least scrapes the resonator. :/ Lowered car problems, I guess.
Nice numbers! That's right about where I'm aiming with my 91. I figure that's a...
I'll believe that yours isn't that clean when you post up a link to a thread on here within the last few years with a better car! ;)
He removed the post really quickly. I suspect he got about 20 messages in 10 minutes, haha.
