I've seen both blocks in 89's. but not in an 88 that was original. Weird thing is, I have a head off of a 92 cressida, and it's a 7.

I'm considering grabbing a 1uz fuel pump controller.

sweet! Let me know how you worked out the fuel pump. I ended up getting frustrated trying to figure that part out, so I just put it on a relay that switches off of ign2. I believe.
