sorry your friend wasted his money. My friend Kyle at synergy in fremont california just put down the same numbers for under 5000$ with a ls6 block and a mild cam.

meh, put a ls1 in it, 200 lbs lighter than the 7m and it's v8 power @ over 350 hp at the wheels before even doing anything to it. Drop in a cam, 400 hp add a tune, 470hp. and for less than you will spend getting a 4 cylinder to 300hp.
I personally don't reccomend the solid mounts to anyone, but some people insist on having solid mounts for whatever reason.
The UHMW ones work good, vibration is minimal, (about the same as a four banger) and engine movement is non existant. and I have a extra set sitting right here. :)

I believe it's 1.2 pulses per revolution for the supra. Only reason I know this is because I had to get a supra speedo to work with a t56 that had a 17 pulse per revolution signal.
