Here is a pic that might help you see the difference in the 2 types at a quick look. The shifter on the R-154 is all the way back and straight, as the w-58 isn't. Just away to look quickly there are other way to tell but this one is one of the easiest i think.

Not to hijack, but the Lucas test... I have used Lucas many times and it has help quit some top end noise. I have also drained the oil after 15 mins of the motor running and shortly after had the oil pan off also. i have never seen any foam, any where in the motor. Could we post that site on...

Is it cranking at all, does the starter engage? Did you check your battery cables? Is it a five speed or auto? Just few quick questions that might get you a faster answer.
