Gonna have to raise the bullshit flag here...if someone dumped the hundreds of thousands of dollars Nissan did into the RB26/GT-R research, you damn well could see that stuff from a 7M. Proof? See 2JZ...Toyota did do the research, and there it is.

I just think an engine flush like the 7M and 2JZ is MUCH MUCH more appealing to the eyes in an engine bay. I dont doubt the possible practicality of the 25* tilt or whatever...I just dont like it thats all. Makes it look like a V12 plasma cut in half and pooped into the engine bay...I love the inline setup far more than the V setup so that might be most of it

The 7m is in NO WAY capable of matching the power the RB26-30 can handle...its simply not possible.

Its the head on the RB26DETT that makes it look "tilted".

trentt1.jpg

Look at the block and the head ( where they meet), there is an angle that the head takes...probably for more effecient exhaust flow or something. But the block is straight up and down...just the head is not.

Again, form follows function.

And I think it looks cool, so bite me :naughty:

If I wanted revs I'd buy a sport bike, a rotary powered Mazda, or a Honda.
Only one of those three can beat a Supra on a regular basis.

What the fuck good is revving when you dont even have enough power to move until you get that high?! Something would have to be hella light for it to work that way

while there is something to be said for spinning a motor that high, i'm with ya...i consider the rev happy hp peaky motors gutless..
like the 4age, just not my cup of tea..i like torque that craps you by the balls not peak hp that graces you with its presents after a caucaphony (sp) of exhaust notes all the way to 10k rpm.. with the right gears even a v8 redlining 5k rpm can drift,
the whole high rpm fad thing i really thing comes from the fact that when teh import craze took off nationwide that the majority of tuners were in honda's and as we all know honda's need to spin to make power...

anywho..as sometimes happens the orignal ricers have grown up, started to thing drifting is the shiznit, and thing "well i need power from my 240, so i must need rpm, that's how i did it in my honda."

just my own thesis...

btw..the 18rgte owns all

Hey, since when was this thread a 4A-GE bashing thread! :p

Gearing is just as important as torque/power/rev limit, it has to all be looked at together. I'm going to have to go with powerband. I'd like a nice, flat, long torque curve myself, over a car that has all the torque down low, or all the power up top.

Both the RB and the JZ have the capability for a nice torque curve IMO, the RB just has it moved up in the rev range a bit.

(PS: The late-model 4A-GZE = the replacement for my 4A-GE, nice torque curve IMO, plus it's still got great top end. :))

The 4A-GZE was pretty popular. HKS released a "Twin-Charger" system. Turbocharged AND supercharged - and then some people would add a Blitz pulley to the supercharger to pull even more power out.

One of those in a lil lightweight 1G MR2 is a killer.

Doesnt Ryan Woon and the Virtual works racing 2jz motors spin upwards of 10K rpms?

Its a shallow argument to make fun of rev happy motors and call them sappy and gutless...thats a lame attempt at calling it quits are your part given the lack of knowlege you have shown in regards to those motors in general......just because the sit at an angle you dont like them?

Please......tell me more.

The problem with most of the rev-happy motors is that yes, they are nice/decent when they get INTO your powerband, but from a stop it can feel like an eternity to get there. You think turbo-lag is bad? I happen to think that a rev-happy 4-banger with a case of "NA lag" is worse.

And you wonder why honda's have short gears?

I dont see anyone in the drag racing or drifting scene launching their cars at 2000rpm.....they need to build up boost ( spool) for the power off the line....

heck, when I take off from a redlight I routinely rev to 2500-3000 and slowly engauge the clutch.....knowing that I have one of the most powerful clutches in RPS's line...it engauges quite quick.

Dissing on the RB is just retarded....
Give me one example of an RB having a low tq number? Those motors are a marval of modern day engineering. For one, on the stock head...it can handle 9K rpm.....the bottem end can take upwards of 1000whp ( yes just like the 2jz)....and it has MINIMAL lag due to the combustion chamber design and the smaller stroke....

Again the short talked dissing of honda motors and high revving TURBO motors needs to stop.....

People that say Honda motors are crap.......well when you go against an all motor 340hp RSX-S......and LOSE, as you will....just dont say anything at all.

And yes, there is 2.2 liter K20A's putting out 340hp.....running on the street in texas and in florida.....and some in california. I keep up with honda's ...because I dont want to be that person that basically gets owned by a honda.....and it does happen routinely. :biglaugh:
