Wow, I didn't know so many people on here were into guns too...anyone in my area want to go shooting sometime? We go almost every weekend so let me know. We go to my best friends house because they have 60 plus acres so no one bothers us and they have a great sellection of rifles(I only wish his brother wasn't in n.c. because he has beautiful rifles)

I also have to agree that the ar's are extrememly light and accurate. I do not want people to think that I am in love with the ak, I was just saying I heard it can be fired almost no matter what and to me I thought that was pretty impresive, even if it is not that accurate because rounds come out fast in any assault weapon. If I was in battle I wouldn't want my gun to jam no matter what the situation, but I would want it to be accurate too...are there any weapons like that?

Then out of step also knows the troubles in Viet Nam early when it was first issues were the politicians in Washington. Everything he said was true.

The designer built it for stick, and the Army uses ball. The weapon should have been adapted for the ball, but wasn't until heavy carbon fouling caused misfire. Or so we were told in boot camp.

Yep. The nam issues with the ammo were a simple incorrect barrel twist ratio for the bullet weight (accuracy tumbling issue). Most of the fouling issues have long since been cured with modern powders. The fouling issue is non-existant with the piston uppers. It's a very versitile platform that can easily be addapted to not only different calibers, but different cycling systems all-together.

Is the M16 the best rifle? No. Is it crap? Not even close.

Im still deceiding on my next AR build. If I don't go 10mm upper, it'll be an M4 profile piston upper.

Whats not to like about having a round 2-4 times more powerful than 45? Not to mention having more ammo capacity than a 45.

After shooting 10mm, everything else just seems like playing with kiddie guns.

Is the M16 the best rifle?

SR25. Combining the qualities of the AR 15 and AR 10. In other words, M60 ammunition with an M16 rifle. Sold with flat top recievers too. For all you "snipers" that are always on the interent.

And I don't mean the one with sniper in his screen name.

For .308 I'll take a FAL or SCAR-H.

Actualy, I already did.

Just need to get the SCAR-H as soon as it's released to civis.

first up - I doubt you're talking about an M16. M16's are full auto and are very expensive (not to mention the tax stamp and background check you have to do with ATF to get one). So, that being said - you're talking about a civilian AR-15. Great gun - amazing how many parts are out there. I'm building one myself now. Like outofstep said, they do make gas piston uppers if you want a little more reliability. the accuwedge that goes between the two parts of the receiver to reduce movement can be easily taken out, or added to ar's that don't have them. the diemacos are essentially colt clones (made under contract from colt i believe).

the ar family is very versatile - you can configure it any way you want. With the right parts you can make a very small, very light and very accurate M4gery no problem. It just takes money.

and don't give me any BS about the g36 having more knock-down power...it uses a 5.56mm round too......

tavors are NOT marketed here in the US and there are currently no plans on doing so - so don't get your hopes up.

Edit: nice FAL.....me wants! My Garand is great, but a bit out of date

M16, M16A1, and M16A3 are full auto. M16A2 and M16A4 are 3-shot

well, ive only shot the m16a2 then for training, you know, why train us on it if we only have to shoot it 1 time in about 2-3 years

Very nice gun. I have only shot bolt action 308's so a semi or auto 308 must be a rush!

Jon
It wasn't designed for a rush. I was designed for a faster follow up shot with more than one target.

The diemacos r close to the colt but they have made some changes to the mounting rail and the the rubber wage is standed on it (i dont know about the colt version)

Edit: That SR-25 is awsome i think i just fell in love

Anyone shot one?

Sniper: The changes done to the Diamecos are minor and were done to tailor the M16/M4 chassis for the Canadian armed forces. The wedge is not standard on any US made AR/M16 so far as I know. But it is easily obtained and shouldn't be considered a real 'selling point'. It's a $3 part.

JDM7m: I doubt it was an experimental M1/M14. That would/should be in a museum somewhere. I think it either was an M1A (civilian M14) or a Garand with a conversion kit - I've seen them at gun shows before.
