I have my digital camera charged, and My typing fingers ready to roll. I cant wait for it to arrive. Its gonna be great to finally get my engine bay cleaned up too. I was hoping to get it this week so i could get it in this weekend, but thats not looking so good. Probably be held off till next weekend which means another week of borrowing a vehicle to get to school

just got word the engine wont be shipped till tuesday... totally sucks, ill have to hold off the swap a whole nother week if it doesnt get here by friday of next week. Paying for gas for my momdukes suv is worse than the supras gas bill haha. this sucks.
well i have an update....
My engine is supposed to have shipped today, but i got bad news today as well. I went to get my car inspected thinking maybe id get it passed cuz i know someone. Well it turns out my frame is rusting out really bad. Alot of rust around where the rear subframe bolts to the body, and the frame itself basically. I was highly advised to look for something else.
So i plan to pick up a 88 with rodknock on saturday, hopefully that goes well so i can transplant the rabid chimp in there. So this thread just turned from a motor swap, to a whole different car/motor swap. I'l be selling an assload of parts soon too so get your I wants ready haha.
This will probably work out well anyway, because there was alot wrong with my car other than the motor. I was also in need of a steering rack, a fuel tank, a 2nd gear synchro, a clutch, some interior loving. Hopefully the new one will have all those in good condition.

hahahaha i never seen that smiley before... im even gonna be nice and not sell it to anyone in that condition haha. Thanks i hope i wont need cash in on that luck. Im just gonna need the luck to pay off my huge credit card bill after buying a motor, then a car. Ij i pm'd reign about this , but should i change the title/location to something more resembling a project thread since im updating my progress and such?

okay so i got my shell. I just picked it up last nite... a really long day. Anyway ill post pics soon of it.. its an 88 turbo with a sunroof. Gonna take alot of TLC to get it in respectable shape, but im up to the challenge. Im going to be needing some interior and exterior parts. The frame seems to be in good shape though!!!

-Gray leather door panels (both) the ones in there have holes hacked in them for 6.5 speakers... Grr..
-New headliner ( prefer to get a vinyl one, gray) the cloth is falling off.. im not sure if they made sunroof headliners in vinyl or not.
- New seats...gray leather is trashed..... and i mean trashed
- Sunroof switch... the one in there doesnt even look stock?
- pre89 front bumper
- pre89 trim pieces.... only a few look like they need to be replaced...
Ill have up for sale soon, a bunch of my 89+ stuff that i could probably trade for parts I need. This isnt a wtb ad, im just noting my progress in the thread so i can track everything... ( but if anyone can help a pm would be cool)
Im currently looking for a garage to rent to tear apart my 90 so i can sell some parts and use some for the 88.
Also looking for a catback right now... the 88 doesnt have exhaust.

hey man, im assuming your the "other guy" still waiting on his rabid chimp longblock the guys at hpf speak of :aigo: ... ya i ordered one around the same time as you 7/20/06 ish... they told me a week ago it was in the machine shop still and should ship 8/8 but no update other than that...
i thought the same thing, the motor had new seals, mhg, arp studs, and basically complete otherwise, guarunteed low mileage with a 1 year warranty...
For myself who can make the money but not the space or time to build my own motor, this sounded like the most realistic option. that is, if i wanted to get my car rerunning before it snows! :biglaugh:
im in the exact position you are, borrowing a car from a friend to get around for work and school until i get MY car runnin.. so i decided to say fuck it and just order the motor... so now i have a few big boxes and plots around the garage where there are nearly all the parts ill need for my swap/conversion... im startin my thread check it out, ill have a few pics...

good stuff man... im getting a lil annoyed at how this is going. I just called hpf earlier and they said they would call me back, theyre going to contact rabid chimp. still no call. Im starting to get really extremely dissapointed in the customer service. I really really need this motor soon!!!
you must have ordred yours the day before i did, ron told me someone from denver ordred one the day before... so yeah we have motors in the same shop rite now.. good stuff....
p.s. if you need any turbo parts for your conversion, ill be getting rid of the stuff from my 90 soon so lemme know...

ya dude i''ve been gettin to be the same way, its MY only car and am using it as a DD.. NEED IT NOW!!! i called and they told me the exact same thing; with no return call.. i wish rabid chimp had a direct number, but that would be way too simple:biglaugh: ya ill for sure let you know if i need anything else.. in fact i think i need a couple knock sensors if urs are any good...

Engine was shipped out wednesday The 16th. Hopefully here by this wednesday. Just took the motor out of the red car ( the one recieving the rabid chimp)

Then we realized waterpump had to come off since the fan clutch nuts were stripped... and the fan + that bar across the front of the car = :nono:... so...
^^^ HAHAHA that was a really bad yet amusing idea. didnt work as designed but no harm no foul.
Fuck yeah its out and im dirty as shit
