Thank you Rich, I just didnt expect that steep of a price tage when he quoted 550. The last head I had resurfaced was $100 cash (maybe green backs were worth more back then LOL)
I wish, since I bought all my parts from you, I would have had you just do my rebuild :) But at the time I didn't know your were also doing machine work. :(

ya 180 is a little steep I also thought, o-well I hope his work is SUPER GOOD!

You can't put a price tag on quality work. The extra steps and attention to detail, justify a higher price. If it is right the first time, then money well spent.

yeah machine work adds up quick. i paid 235 for resurfacing, 5 angle intake valve job and a 2 angle radius exhaust valve job, and cleaning. the machinest is a nice guy he even changed the bit on his CBN cutter because he knew i wanted it extra smooth. i opted to remove the cams and set valve lash myself to save a lot of money.

i agree with you 100%. it takes alot of time to properly machine and assemble an engine.

Can we get some close ups inside the ports, and the bowls. I know you're not going to disassemble the valves and all, but if you can get some macro shots through the runners to show as much as possible. Thanks.

92nsx- that is about the going rate for what you had done to the head. I just sent one out the door that I am sure the customer has 3k into it. My bill was half of that.

LOL...tell me about it (it's a bit more actually). I'm not even gonna post what the lower end parts cost before any machine work to the block!

Quality work is worth every penny though ;)
You did a very nice job on this head Rich!

If he used CBN cutters and has done a good job $180 is peanuts ;)
(think of the savings over a poor job and the teardown to correct it if it doesn't seal)

Wifeless here so no one to report to!

:3d_frown: Lucky you. I have to hide the receipt and lie about how much it cost. That's why I always pay in cash. Only a couple of times I told her how much stuff cost, and she wigged out. And that was the small stuff under $300.
