here is the ad i found in craigslist but i dont know enough to know if they will fit. i'm in need of new tires and i figured 300 might be a good deal...

and i have gotti rims on my supra now and they just happen to also make rims for porshe, so i was thinking if i was lucky these will be perfectly compatible with my car.

4ea. Chromed D90's with porsche center caps.
6" with 52mm offsets for the fronts, 8" with 52mm for the rears.
Tires are Yokohama A520
225/50ZR16 92W and 205/55ZR16 93W
$300 obo

i think they look like this? i googled "porshe d90" if anyone can help me it would rock... and give me any advice on this specific model of rim...THESE ARE NOT THE ONES IN THE ADD but ones i got off the net, i wanted to emphasize that to eliminate confusion.

***Edit*** Wait, scratch what I just said. The wheels you posted are BBS RS wheels, mine look just like 'em almost, but there are slight differences....primarily being mine have the Jap DOT logo cast into 'em where the Lugs are. Anyway, these are Porsche D90's...

Narrower than stock (in the front), with a much higher offset. Excluding the bolt pattern differences, they'd fit like balls. No go.

yeah i caught the narrower in the front thing and the offset and bolt pattern was my main concern.

and the fact that those black meshies aren't the rims is enough to make me say no...heh. thanks for pointing that out. and yeah i was afraid the bolt pattern was wrong.

what exactly makes our bolt pattern so weird? if you think of a line running through the center of all the lugs in a circle, is the radius of that weird? so in other words are the lugs a different distance from the center of the wheel than other cars?

thanks for the replies!

What he said. If you really want wheels that fit, buy some in the right size. OR, you could try Mustang rims, Stealth/3000GT rims, 350Z rims, RX7 rims, but the offset might be a bit off still.

Our bolt pattern isn't weird. It's probably one of the most common. European cars often don't use it though.

oh ok. somewhere i heard that rims were hard to find but then again so many supras all have different wheels so that MUST be wrong i just didn't give it much thought.

plus the guy at les schwab said he had issues getting rims for his supra but maybe thats because he works at les schwab...lol. i'm sure he went for an employee discount and he mentioned they only carried a few different styles.

anyway...i went today and they said to come back in 5k miles or so. Therefore i'm happy and i'll no longer thrash my tires thinking i'll need new ones anyway (damn it...oh well it was fun)

so yeah.... on to save for bigger and better things! :) thanks for all the helpful comments and advice guys! you're the best!

RBmotoring.com for all your used JDM wheel needs.

please, go WIDER than stock and at LEAST +1 in diameter. dont stay w/ a 16", especially if its NARROWER than stock. someone would have to PAY me to put wheels that small on my car.

thanks for the offer. sadly i probabaly couldnt afford rims that i really want...maybe but i dunno. i was thinking it would rock to get black and silver meshies on my black car AND get new tires but i have 5k miles or so left on mine, and those rims i found don't fit. i can't really afford to buy rims because they look cool, i was hopin for that package deal ya know?

if you like looking at rims anyway, find some that are good looking for under 300 dollars and want to PM me, go ahead! but that gives you an idea how much i'm willing to spend...and its not much. i'm even reluctant for that much. i'd rather pay for parts that will fix any mechanical issues so i can keep using the supra as a DD...

by the way i've been looking at your build thred - cool!

what's wrong with 225s? aren't they pretty wide? not really wide but sufficient? how much is an extra inch really going to help? and diameter i would get larger, i dont like the look of 16s...17s are better and 18s are nice.

i need to snap a pic of this lexus (is300? the supra engine one...) it has HUGE rims...i think its ugly because of it..

on a turbo i would say yeah of course for extra width but for me...meh.... i'm just not there yet i suppose. more expensive tire changes with lower profile and larger contact patch. when i get a job, i'll be more than interested in new rims that i can splurge a lot of $$ on! just not now.

by the way #2 - do you have more pics of your car? i think i like your rims...lol. and i was looking at it the other day, especially since we both drive black cars...

i think if youre going to take the stock parts off in favor of new parts, you should be upgrading them. 225's were wide/sufficient for 1985. by todays standards, they are wide/sufficient for economy cars like civics and accords. even Luxury cars come with 235/40/17's, like the Acura TL... and thats just a sedan.

on an IS300, i would do 19's cuz its a "big" car, mainly because its a 4door. on a GS/LS, those cars need 20's, but not MORE. 19's barely cut it. 18's should ahve come stock. side wall is not cool these days.

even if you dont have a turbo, you can use new wheels and tires as an excuse to pick up where your horsepower leaves off. if you cant go fast at least you can look good and turn well, right? no sense in slacking off on the go AND show aspects.

17x8 and 17x9 would be just fine for you. 245's and 275's. thsoe tires are fairly cheap, especially if you get them used. probably $40/each for the front and $50 each for the rear.

as for pics of my car, enjoy;

larger wheels are heavier, killing performance...

when borhor said his wheels weighed 50lbs (with tires I assume) I about fell outta my chair. My wheels are stock sized and weigh probably half that...

well if they are cheap, then youre sacrificing strength. my wheels arent light but they are forged. ill gladly take that over a porous cast aluminum wheel that has a risk of bending... like Rotas and Axis wheels do.

im tired of people complaining about wheels being heavy and a reason not to buy upgraded wheels. i guess maybe the GroupA supras that toyota raced were illogical for using 18x12's... if weight is that big of a deal to you, remove it from somewhere else. buy a lighter battery, clean the shit out of your trunk, trade in your spare tire and jack for a AAA gold account, run half a tank of gas instead of a full tank... dont be a pussy, be creative.
