Will the safc retard timing on the 1jz

When I used a safc on the 7m timing was retarded drastically at 5,600rpm and tuning past that was worthless.

I am tuning it this week, so if the safc does retard it, @ what rpm does it retard?
What rpm can I tune to if it does not retard the timing?
Thanks so much for any help, I tried posting in the piggyback section but had mo luck from my iPhone.

Edit:: brain fart

It isn't so much that the s-afc is retarding your timing, but a side-effect of the s-afc.

Since the S-afc works by making the stock ecu think it has more air then normal to increase the fuel. You basically tricking the ecu into using a different section of stock tune, but at also means if does the same thing to your spark table. The higher you go into the spark table, the less timing it has for safety reasons.

Doesn't the AFC usually advance the timing when you use it to compensate for bigger injectors?

Yes because there is more load on the engine than the computer thinks there is, the timing will be advanced farther than ideal wherever fuel is pulled out.

haha yep. I was half joking really. Like I said make it all raw! Run good gas and shit :) More timing especially up top is gonna help. Just be careful in the area around peak cylinder pressure and you'll be alright. You know how to tune cars dont ya?

I know the basics on how to tune it, but I could always drive over to your kneck of the woods and have a pro help me tune it, like yourself!

Let me know a good time:)
