Well I know the mk4 has a 53/47 F/R weight distribution so that sounds like excellent weight distribution to me. I am sure the mk3 is not too far off of this number as the layout really didn't change and the mk3 is just a junior mk4.
And not choosing the 2jz because of some mk4 owners is stupid. I never understood the animosity between the two owners groups either. The situation is pretty cut and dry. Both the mk3 and mk4 are awesome, but mk4>mk3 as a performance vehicle in all categories. Anybody who argues against that IS delusional. Also the 2j>7m, but that doesn't mean the 7m sucks. I hope to add a mk4 to my stable this year or next and I still plan to keep the mk3 to play with my 7m too. I think both models are excellent examples of Toyota's finest automobile.
And yea that video of the 1UZ car is fine but it just is not my style. One reason I am drawn to the supra because of its engine/drivetrain, not so that i can put something else in it. And the complexity of a Twin Turbo 1UZ and building the motor for boost is just not worth it imo. For myself I would just build the 7m or 2j for a medium single (gt35R/gt4088R) and call it a day.

^^^I really wish we could still buy tails new from toyota...
Again, my main reason for doing it balance. I have a ton of carbon fiber, a cf hatch that will get lexan, a stripped car ( most of which is in the middle / back and some front ), and I want the balance. Stock the MK3 is 52/48 I believe but when my car is all done my goal is to make it perfect 50/50 with the 1uz, cage, cf lexan hatch, ect ect. The car will never be balanced right if I stick with non-aluminum blocks. The engine just makes perfect sense for my car and it's one bad ass engine. Is it more of a challenge then building up a GT35R/40R 2JZ? Yeah, but I like to be different. Just look at all the parts I've collected over the years and you'll see I'm aiming for a one of a kind stand out MK3.
Also, I've been looking at prices of doing all of the swap and other things and really it's not much more then a good 2JZ build ( what I consider good ), and considering it has 2 cyl more that's pretty surprising. I mean, the starting price of the motor alone saves me hella $$$. The swap is also becoming more popular and there is a member on here who is already selling a complete swap kit.
The guy in the video had a NA probably pretty close to stock 1UZ I can imagine a nice TT sounds MUCH better. I've seen dynos of these things with shitty turbo setups doing 480rwhp and 600rwtq at 4300 RPM's... let's see a 2JZ pull that off.
I have no doubts the MKIV is a great car. Never doubted that. I also have no doubts the MK3 is a great car. I do prefer the MK3 any day of the week though... styling is too good
