I agree with both sides of this conversation, i dont care much for looks and prefer to put the money into making it faster. but i keep it up for me, and when you are going down the road and people pull up to you and tell you nice car, or you go into a store and come out and people arround your car looking at it, it make you feel good like you did a good job and gives you that warm cozy feeling, but i dont do all of that for them i do it for me and i have pride in myself/work going to my car everyday and seeing and driving it.

As far as feeling warm and cozy. I fell in love with the mk3 the day I bought it. I would ask you this though, the kid that got out of his car and came over how many other cars do you think he would of done this for? a vette...see em all the time. So what other car would make that guy get out of car for?

I bought my car because I liked it. I could drive alot of different cars but I choose the mk3 for some crazy reason.

Thats the worst reason anyone buys or drive a car. I have NEVER given a flying fuck about what women think of my car but i do try my best to keep my car looking good and running well for my own enjoyment

You completly missed the point. The point was you will win no awards with an ugly rusted piece of shit.

A true car builder builds the entire car, and takes care of it. Letting it rust away is losing your investment.

There was a rusted out POS truck around here with a chromed out engine and it was actually pretty quick. What did everyone do? They LAUGHED at it and called him a reverse ricer.

Add in the fact that the structural strength on a Supra can be ruined pretty damn quickly by cancer... I mean, rust. I wouldn't trust a rustbucket to hold any real power without buckling like a cheap tent.

"Its because supra owners cheap out making us look bad when it fails."

This is pretty much the answer. I go to supra meets all the time in MD and it's dominated with MK4's and lexus's. I'm usually the only person with an MK3. The funny thing is that I get nothing but compliments on my car(with its 3 year MAACO paint job). And typical comments I hear are: "People do not realize what they have" refering to the MK3's.

When you see these cars(MK4's) in person and talk to the owners, you can seperate internet fantacies with reality. And the reality is, is that these guys put serious money into there cars with no shortcuts. I can only think of a handfull of MK3 owners all over the world that put this kind of money and effort into there car.

And what kills me is that the people that are bad-mouthing MK3's or 7M's are the same people buying Ebay turbos.

He's talking about oil analysis. Shows wear metals, oil condition, etc. Click on his link. I've also used Blackstone for years, mostly for aircraft. I'm thinking of investing in my own spectrometer since they come up on ebay once in a while. They're a bit spendy though.

I'd be happy to throw ya a couple bucks to do an analysis!
