Get a 1/4" or 3/8" thick piece of aluminum and weld it to the pipe and drill and tap it for 3/8" NPT. That's what I did on the pipe I made for Dave B's car. I took a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate and used an 1 1/4" holesaw and drilled a hole through the plate. I then kept the slug that was left inside the holesaw and welded it to the IC pipe and drilled and tapped it.

You'll like the AEM. It was the best decision I have made for my car to date. I have a 5 bar sensor on mine also using the GM IAT sensor.

i got the 3/8 bung friday and will be getting welded 2moro (hopefully) i've yet to get my wb sensor and boost solenoid but i should be able to start the car with just the iat and map sensor. Anyone have a base map for 550's, 3bar gm map, gm iat and ffim? Just need something to get the car to idle.

Empera,

Drop me a PM with your email address.

I'm presently working over seas, but I'm 99 % sure I have a copy of the map for my car which I setup last summer in Canada sitting on my laptop.

Specs are as follows:

GT4088 Turbo
3 bar GM map
720 cc injectors
Built motor
GM IAT
stock intake manifold (but won't be an issue when you're off boost) Car ran and idled quite well, but you'll most likely have to setup your Idle feedback to suit your application.

You can rescale the 720's to 550's using the injector resize option. All the standard disclaimers, don't upload it and start boosting :) Are your injectors still wired to fire in batches of two, or sequentially?

I started my car using the start-up calibration(see sig). After I updated the settings to reflect my set-up. injectors, sensors etc. My car fired up within 2 seconds. She ran very rich at first, so we then had to adjust the fuel to stop killing bugs.

Is there a write-up out there on how to re-wire our injectors for sequential injection? I'm telling you guys, we need a stand-alone section, I did a thread on that on the "Suggestion" forum but no luck so far.:icon_sad:

no one has a writeup on it, but it shouldn't be that hard. you'll need to get creative with an additional inj. resistor or add resistance some other way....

there isn't anyone to cover a standalone SME section....no one has in-depth knowledge of ALL standalones. hence the lack of a standalone SME forum...

I think You combined with IJ, Chevyeater, X-man to name a few would do a good job guiding people to at least the beginning stages of going stand-alone. It could be a sub-forum in your piggy-back section for example. I'm thinking it would'nt be that hard to moderate, just getting rid of the "which is better" threads.

The wiring itself does not seem complicated, it's figuring out the resistor stuff. For example if I were to go with high impedance injectors, then I wouldn’t need any resistors or is that not necessarily true? Empera, don't mean to highjack your thread; just figured any conversation we can get going on the AEM EMS will be helpful to all.

wait

the AEM can not drive low imp injectors without an inline resistor/s????

WOW!

empera

no one has touched on this but I will :)

The AEM is Plug and play but it is NOT plug and DRIVE. Need to tune it and regardless of how "easy" it was to PnP. Tuning should be left to someone that knows how to do it. Believe me, it will save you headaches or trials and tribulations down the road.

As for Sequential injection. Not really needed unless you are driving stupid big injectors or really high RPM.

Arent some of the boxes designed for high impedence injectors? Not that it really matters though - mkiii resistor packs are a dime a dozen.

ok i ordered my GM/AC Delco boost solenoid, which pin should i be using for a good power source? I got PW#2 (pin 12b) for a signal.

since I removed the fuel pump resistor/relay for my duals in the tank, I used the 12v line that used to feed those and mounted the solenoid on the strut tower.

ok im still having problems cant get the car to start up...seems like im only getting it to spark on coil 3,4 but not the others, i have tried various calibrations and nothing...im thinking something might be wired wrong but i can think of wat it could be. CPS was swapped, coils were swapped, igniter was swapped and nothing. any ideas fellas?

My personal experience... there is always a bad one...

AEM is a pile of crap, and my car has yet to run right even one day since I bought it 9 months ago. Thats what I get for buying a used one I guess.

So anyway. How about all of us supra aem users compile our maps up. I'm very interested in Dr J's map if he is willing to share.
