Guy at the local car show with a 100+ trim garrett on a 1j on 72 lbs with1400 hp. Sais i been through 6 7ms they suck.Quote"they blow up no matter what i do to then"..I ask "you shure you built then right" he sais its a shitty motor they were desinged wrong get a 1j.i told him im not lookn for too much power just 3-400.He told me 7m are so shitty they cant hold even that without blowing.

Dont get me stared on the ricers u got a supra..yea.... U got a 2j....No i have a 7m ..........u know the rest .....fuck id take a new mk3 over a new mk4 and day of my life......damed ricers at least they give my 7mge somethin to beat.ricers swear by the mk4 but shit on the mk3 .Most older people or people that are real gearheads give me my props and thats the only kind i want.

i have a 50 trim garrett in my room with a garrett intercooler all genuine.im gona start my build this summer after i save 2-3 grand.motors gona be on a stand. Every seal and bearing replaced arps all around rc injectors fp replaced nice 1.4 mm mhg.Should i b worried about the reliablilty of the 7m?

Everyone always hates on me when I tell them I still have a 7m. Pretty much everyone says I should go 1j.... So the 7m is staying in my car..h8rz

It's been said *many* times. The weak link in the 7M is the owner.

The correct comeback for the clown in the wrecking yard was, "Guess if you'd stayed with a weak engine, you might have saved the rest of the car. How about next time you learn how to drive before trying to increase the performance beyond what you're capable of handling?"

I don't quite have 350 yet as I am still on the stock CT26, but I stand by the 7M all the way.

I have a dyno day coming up in 4 weeks, and I am planning on taking home the MkIII trophy (and $200 lol)... I am up against 1Js, and after taking all the ridicule for the 7M over the years, I will be rubbing it in hardcore to the JZ boys should I win ;)

I run 320 reliably...never dynoed or tuned for HIGH boost. Although I don't beat my car like some, and I'm ANAL under the hood.

Stock bottom end...stock internals in head. ARP w/ MHG...tons of supporting mods.
40,000 mi. on a USDM motor.

350+ is a different story. But I wouldn't be too scared to turn my pressure up a little...

Again, I'm not the normal young guy in a sportscar either...you may do sloppy work and drive like an asshat, you may not. I'm not new to FI engines...or 7Ms for that matter, and I would advise ANYONE to build their motor up more than mine to run much of anything over stock and expect reliability.

In truth, I wouldn't vouch for any motor, in any car/bike, anywhere, except for my own, and my very own 7M is stout. So good luck, at least if you tank your engine...you didn't have the headache of getting a JDM. And there's plenty of noobs who are ready to throw the towel and sell you another 7M for dirt. 'Cause a JZ is gonna teach them how to turn a wrench.

Edit: Good luck at the Dyno day LilMiss mk3!

i wouldn't own another 7m. but thats just me.. bad experiences... if you can make it reliable than go for it. mine lasted 1300 miles at 320whp on stock ct26. but mine WAS NOT built right. you have to have someone who knows what they are doing with the 7m.

380 at the wheels - daily driver - 190,000+ miles on the motor.

There's nothing unreliable about the 7M that can't be fixed.

MHG - the right tune - an owner with a 1/2 ounce of common sense and the financial ability to afford the car is all it takes.

I've said it 100 times, the weak link in the 7M is generally the owner.

7m is a very cool engine with the right amount of money and brains. the reason why ricers hate the mk3....bhg, etc. just means more for the edumacated people out there.

I personally dont ever plan on owning another 7m car but who knows, for the person on a budget and still wants something quick like me i went the 1j route, but if you have the money to build a 7m rite they can be just as reliable and powerfull as any 1j.

Yep,you only get to pick two.

Ill take my 7Ms torque any day, that's what separates us from evos, hondas and subies

Well I can't say shit about my 7m, I went 2jz but that's because I love the motor, the 7m I had in my car had 180K miles, basic tune up and right before I took it out for the 2jz, I TRIED, yes TRIED, to blow it up, yea, no coolant, 2 qrts of oil, and put 500 miles on it before I gave up and tore it out. So I can't put down the 7m, even if I'm running a 2jz.
