02 altima 2.5s, on stock wheels, with some bad ass snow tires, and I air them down if it gets real bad out. Haven't had much of a problem with much of anything, except for people that cant drive.

Why would you air them down? Increased contact patch is NOT something you want on snow and ice (you want to maximize the weight per unit area of contact with the road). You would only want to increase contact patch if you were trying to "float" on top of the snow...

I wouldn't drive my Supra in the snow because we use liberal amounts of salt in my area. Instead, I drive my 1993 Toyota Hilux 2wd pickup. 280lbs sand helps a lot, too. 22RE FTW!

I drive my Supra in the snow, it's my DD with 230K miles, a squeaky strut, heater that works half the time, and on steelies. It's fun in the snow though :biglaugh:

Yes, you would air them down to float on top of snow but you would also do so on glare ice. The softer tire will tend to deform a bit more and make more contact with whatever imperfections are on the ice surface. At all other times it is beneficial for the tire to be at recommended pressures so that it cuts down to the bottom as much as possible.

I sport the supra in the snow, yep nearly balled out tires on the rear, but i manage to keep it on the road okay here in N.KY. hell i figure if i'm gonna own a car why not drive it. Even it it just got restored and had a 1j or 2j i'd still drive it year round. In the end it's jsut a car, right?

I just stay home with all of the cars parked neatly in the garage watching the mayhem on the local news.

Never take my Supra in the snow!!, I could barely get the JZA70 into the shop last night with 6" of snow on the ground, it took 5 min to get 30 feet, gotta love bald UHP summer tires.

I have a 96 4runner with 4" lift and 33" MTR's, if I ever have a problem I just push the E-locking differential button on my dash to get out of the tough stuff.

Not exactly Supra related, thread moved. On a side note, here's a pic I just took after I towed a Subaru Forrester out of a ditch about one mile from my house. Please pardon the pic quality, the first two are cell phone pics from the blizzard that's going on here currently.

My '94 Toyota Pickup 4x4, 5 speed, Marlin Crawler rear bumper, 31x10.5 BFG Mud Tires. 22re Powered FTL. :( (7M swap coming soon...:naughty:)

And the lady I pulled out of the ditch. Man, she was buried. This is in the side lot near my house. She needed a break, so I told her she could park there for a bit. I even offered her hot chocolate. She'd been sitting in the ditch for 35minutes, everyone wanted between $30-$50 to pull her out! It took me 4 minutes, and I told her to spend the money on gas. I wouldn't let her pay me. :)

And some other pics of my truck. Mostly poser shots, as I never want to get out in the deep stuff. LOL!

I've taken this thing down trails with 3-4 feet of snow on them. Haven't been stuck yet. (knock on wood). I'll be getting a rear e-locker and a front tru-trac sometime in the future.

say what?

for the last week i've been able to spin in 6th gear on the highway (i.e. completely ice covered) and haven't had any problems. As long as you don't drive like a retard on ice, you'll be fine with normal tires.

Not around here, they just shut down roads and close businesses and schools when it's iced over here.

87 Supra was used all week to go to and from work. Started out in second gear and rarely got the tach over 1500 RPMs when shifting into third, that allowed me to drive up hills from a stop on combined ice and snow. I was driving well below the speed limit.
I'm riding on Kumho 711s, 225 f and 245 r w/o traction devices. Van
