WHICH ENGINE SHOULD I GO WITH?

Recently, my automatic 7mgte locked up from a sudden oil loss and Im gunna have to replace the whole thing. Ive been thinking of either just getting a JDM 7mgte, or looking at getting an entire front clip. Ideally, I want to find a front clip thats LHD and manual, so I could do an get a new engine and do a transmission swap. Since almost all front clips are RHD, I doubt I could afford to buy the clip and convert to LHD at the same time. Im also concidering doing a 1JZGTE swap. Should I waste my time looking for a LHD manual front clip? Anyone ever do the conversion?

heres my .02. take it as you wish. no flaming ment.

ok, the mk3 supra came with a 7m. my opinion is to stay with the 7m and build it the right way. any jz motor is gonna cost ya out the rear to build up. 7m parts are a lil more common to find and cheaper to get.

and on another note, i know of a few places in the nothern alabama area that have several mk3's laying around rotting to pieces.

again, just my 2 cents.

John, front clip is not for welding it into your curent car, its for parts, u take out your engine, gearbox and maybe fenders, bumper, lights... For all other junk u leave it to junk yard ;)

So theres no difference if the clip is LHD or RHD ;)

i like the 1jz, but as boost fiend said, its gonna cost alot to build. then again you have the 2jz which is a swsome motor. but then is gonna cost ya alot for the motor, and then some to build. so depending on money, and the way it sounds, stick with the 7mgte, once you do the ::bhg:: thing, its a awsome running motor (IMO)!!!

hope this helps. and no disrespect intended.

Where in Northen AL are they located???

Also, I'd say to just have the 7M you have rebuilt. THat's what I did, and I love it. Brand new engine, Ross pistons, MHG, ARP throughout. It's ready for ANYTHING I can throw at it.

Funny how you say no flaming meant, but your sig clearly says 1JZ = FTL

here we go again.:nono: I think I'll just sit back and let all the misinformation flow in this one.

or you could just write a FAQ thread and link it to threads like this everytime they pop up ;)

I vote 7M! But I'm biased of course. Real answer is: Anything will work as long as you build it right.

I wasn't planning on welding anything on my car....(?)...But the problem with RHD is that the clutch is on the wrong side.
