The 4L80E is a new trans that Sound performance is selling, Overdrive & fully automatic, AEM ems can controlled it, The 3.50 final gear ratio that your looking for Jawgear can provide you with, I know Sean has one in his MKIII....
I don't know if my Stinger will control shifts or not, and I don't know how I'm going to do the linkage yet. I'm going to start searching to see what everyone else has did. They're should be one or two write ups somewhere.
Sean told me he had the 3.73 gear.

If it doesn't have 4 gears and a lockable TC I don't want to know ;)
(then again my car never see's the strip so these things may only be important to me)
What transmission are you running Ian? What shifter do you have and how do you shift it into overdrive? Does it work with the stock pushbutton?

I'll have to read up on that transmission and see how the overdrive works with it.

i think its a button/switch (12v switched)

I haven't read this yet Justin, but I'll read it tonight when I get home from work. I've read a lot of interesting articles so far while searching diffferent transmissions. I never knew chevrolet had so many choices.

I found a th350 right across the road from me for $50.00 and he swears it was running when he pulled it, but I'm going to rebuild it anyways. I haven't bought it yet, because I'm not sure this is the right path. I've got a few more articles to read first. Thanks for your help.

That might be the easiest way to go. I spent about $1300.00 on Vondas using IPT, and I know Ken is making about 550rwhp through his with no problems. I"ll have to call them and see what they think their transmissions will hold. Thanks.

Go play around in jegs and summit in their automatic transmissions sections, they are already built and ready to go. BTW, 700r4s can hold more than 650 crank, my friend is running 10.4s in a GN with a t67, making around 600whp.

FYI, and as stated, the TH350 not only robs less power than the TH400 but can be built to hold 1400 hp. A TH400 is overkill and is something that people think they need but don't.

Duane

$$ cost to build TH350 to hold 1400 hp ?
$$ cost to build TH400 to hold 1400 hp ?

The cost would be more for the TH400 since it is capable to hold more than the TH350 but this 350 would be more than enough. Look up ATI's website, it's easy ;) http://www.atiautomotive.com/ They make several different packages so calling to compare may be best. (Converters are extra)

I'm going to look into building a A340E for right now I think. I'm going to get another IPT kit and install a large tranny cooler between the IC and the radiator. I'm hoping that will be good enough. I really want to do the th350, but I don't have any local help, and I'm not sure I can figure out how to hook everything up. I don't like down time in my car either so I may as well go with the IPT. For the people with the IPT kits, what type of stall did you go with?

Edit: Ken, no I dont' and thanks Mike, I'll keep him in mind.

Never mind Jay, he can't go with the A340E since his stinger stand alone is not compatible.

It does ;)

You just need a Jz bellhousing for your 340.

I've got one of them already. It's on my R154.

Has anyone ever bought a 340e from Boostlogic? A guy I know has one in his MKIV and it runs 6.80 in an 1/8 at 110mph. I've never seen it, but topnotch2jz on here has. He also daily drives it 400 miles a week and it's held up good for 7months. I think he said it costs about 2800.00 with a 3400 stall. What do you think about that?
Is the IPT better or as good? It will be a little cheaper going with IPT.

I'm going to bed. It's midnight here and I just got through playing a double header in a softball tournament and I've got to go to work early in the morning. Thanks guys for all of your help.

Ian, I'll send you a pm tomorrow when I find out about the transmissions. If I can work out something with one of the auto rebuilders and fine one to rebuild, I will get that shifter from you.
