The MKIII doesn’t have a BOV stock, it does have a By-pass Valve though.

If the by-pass valve is failing please replace it with another by-pass valve. If you try to replace it with a BOV and its not adjusted perfectly the car will run like crap.

No, I don't suppose it is. But if the only reason you are pulling the BPV and putting in a BOV is so you have that cool sound when you shift, I would recommend against it. There is a reason the MKIII uses a BPV, and once you understand this, you are in a far better position to decide if you should try and slap a BOV on there.

Of course lagged knows this so I'm saying it for the benefit of others.

there are 3 hoses going into the accordian hose pre-turbo.

one of those 3 hoses has the bypass valve inbetween it and the 3000 pipe if i remember correctly... or something like that. you'll need to cap off where the hose goes to, and put your bov piped into the accordian hose. but venting to atmosphere will throw off your mass air flow measurements and make the car idle poorly just after being vented and could cause you to stall.

coming out of the metal pipe that says 3000 on it on top of your motor there is a nipple facing forward with a hose coming off and turning left. It connects to a little metal peice which in turn has a vac line running off of it and another hose going into the intake (accordian) pipe.

that is the stock Bypass valve. Im too lazy to fire up a pic, but im sure you can find it its not very hard.

going from bpv to bov can cause issues. guess im lucky that i dont have those issues. if your still mainly stock, stick with the bpv. a stock bpv can still make that cool sound, check around. iirc, shaeef still runs a bpv and his ride sounds nice. save yourself a headache and stick with stock till you go high end with standalone/maft-pro/ect!!!

Took off the MAF sensor meaning hes running a different engine management system, thats waaaaaay down the line if down the line at all. You can make over 550 to the wheels on just a piggyback controller like " MAFT " unless you wanna get crazy you can go stand alone.

ROFLMAO I was just taking a drink when i read this thread and almost sprewed the tea all over the monitor when i read the "tagen top" part......lol
Sorry man, i just couldn't help it. Listen to what these guys tell you, they know lots about these cars. i do believe the HKS SSQV BOV has an adaptor you can buy that will recirculate back into the accordian hose. Bosch also makes a BOV replacement too. Plus, you may also be able to get some of the other brands to recirculate with a little ingenuity....I think I spelled that wrong, oh wel.

if you click on this link the #9901 bov is the one i just bought to give you ll in idea

Atleast the AFM is safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :biglaugh:

Seriously though bud........if you recently bought the supra I would read shaeffs post on maintenance issues before starting to mess with mods, but thats just me. Also if you get an intake, you dont even have to worry about the "cool" sound because your stock Bypass valve will sound pretty damn good!!!! So keep that BOV in a safe place until you have some HP....like one of the guys said. Good luck!
