When buying parts do you say, "1986" "1986.5" or "1987"??

I have a 1986.5 and i'm about to start price checking things and buying parts but i was wondering what you other 86.5 owners tell the dealers/parts places when you buy parts and they have to look it up.

do you tell them..

"1986"
"1986.5" or
"1987" just to make sure you dont get a MKII part?? maybe you say a combo of both? i dont want to accidentally buy parts for a different car:aigo:

basicaly i say, 86-92 it all works..

I come from a land down under
86.5 if it's specific to my car and 87 in general for everything else.
(actually I don't say anything these days the guys all know automatically which page to go to when I walk in ;) )

i always have the same problem "86.5" and they;re all "so its an 86?" then im all "no 86.5, 86 parts arent the same" andthye just dont get it (which i dont understand because alot of cars have changes half way through years) but ive just ended up saying 87

Best to just avoid the 86 year altogether. When my dad had his 86 MK2, he would always end up getting 86.5 parts, so he just said 85 all the time. If I had an 86.5 I would say 87.
