All of my jobs have been pretty nice so far.

Barista - Worked at a cafe that sold music as well. concerts on saturday nights. lots of tips

Dorm attendent - university work study program. got paid to basically do the same thing I was doing in my room anyway... study and surf the net. How can you lose?

Noise and Vibration scientist - I'm sitting in my cubicle right now writing this and getting paid :biglaugh: It's mildly entertaining. not boring. and the job experience will be great once I graduate.

I think I'm doing pretty good so far...

I was a bouncer at a bar for half a summer after working in a door making factory.

Door Factory: 7am - 4pm unless I had to work overtime (for which I didn't get overtime pay). Stupid non-unionized jobs.

Bouncer: 10pm - 3am + (higher pay) + free drinks (non alcoholic :( ) Still pretty shitty, but better than inhaling dust in a factory with no safety guards on the cutting machines.

both the jobs that i've had/have that actually count are pretty sweet.

last job: senior projectionist/part time manager at a local movie theater. (Lyceum Cinema - www.greatmovieslowerprices.com ) pay sucked, but it was a GREAT high-school job. i used to play shows for myself and my friends after hours. free popcorn, free soda, lots of friends. i stayed there through my second year of community college.

then it turned into free popcorn, and whatever hannaford charged for beer. haha.

current job: inventory specialist at Colony Liquor in Kingston, NY. the pay is great, the benefits are excellent, and the job is easy. i worked my way from the night shift throwing cases from 7pm-5am to picking bottles all night, and now got promoted to days for excellence and "going beyond what is required".

i can't complain! plus, i get discounts on wine and liquor at my local liquor stores because i work for the company that delivers to them! (Colony Liquor- http://www.colonyliquor.com/ )

I worked as summer-hire at a Marine Corps chow-hall when I was 14. Fun people most of the time, but it was a dirty, crappy job.
I worked at a movie theater, but that was a cakewalk.
McDonalds - dirty, thankless job where you are yelled at if an order takes more than a couple of minutes. A whole lot of stress for something that truly is not worth the time or pay.
US Air Force - Disliked the beginning, loved it from the 1 year mark until about the 5 year mark. It went downhill after that point. I've never had job stress drive me to seek counseling until the last year of my enlistment. The pay was okay, but not worth it.
Now I work for a defense contractor, and I perform counter-IED work. The pay is very good, sense of purpose is high, and stress level is WAY down. Overall, I like it very much.

i was an ultrasound technician for an inspection company. id stand outside for 10 hours at a time or more in the northern canadian winter just to see how thick pipe was. id get paid hardly anything all while my bosses tried to force me out of the company owned apartment that i lived in. my co workers were mostly strung out half brained drunks that did their best to break every safety rule for an oilsands plant every work day of the week.

it was kinda fun for a while tho :biglaugh:

I left a good job at an electronics store to make a jump into a company that did automation and control and a lot of electrical. I was told I was going to be helping with installations in the field and get to use my electronics and electrical skills I was anxious to put to good use after going to the JC. So the first day the boss gave me some sandpaper and told me to sand the rails on a large automated machine in the shop. Then the next day they gave me more sandpaper and another machine. Then the next day more sandpaper..... So about 3 weeks of that, it was a Friday, and I asked when I was going to get into the field and check out some of the equipment in action. He said business was slow, but I needed to come in on Saturday and bring some old clothes. We were going to go the the airport and sand his personal Cesna plane to get ready to paint and it was going to be a 10-12hr day. I said "I'm going to take a long lunch today". I went back to work at the electronics store on Monday.

i worked at House of Pies. I was the only busboy during my shifts. They had me do things non-stop for 8-9 hours without the chance to eat and never told me what my pay was after I asked, so I said fuck it and left after 3 weeks.

i also worked at taco time for three weeks. i gotta give it up for people that work fast food everyday. i did it for three weeks and couldn't do it anymore. the pay sucked ($5.35/hr in 98') and having my girlfriend as my boss sucked even more.

it was good for me to have a couple of bad jobs in order to appreciate where i am today.
