if your not going to machine the block, get a cometic. because the HKS probably wont seal. it has to have a 30RA (how rough the surface is) or less. the cometic is 50RA...

did you do a compression or a leakdown test before you tore it apart to check the condition of the rings though? i would hate for you to go through all of this trouble, and then have a few cylinders that have low compression....

I called horsepower freaks and they said it will take 3-4 weeks to get the 2mm Cometic, but they strongly recommended the HKS Stopper 2mm. Although I mentioned that I didn't re-surface the block..
I'm going to call 935motorsports to see if they have it in stock.
Compression was up to specs, the rings and pistons are also in good shape.. The engine has 95K miles..
See the reason I didn't take the block out of the car is the fact that I'm in the market for buying a house...
So I know for a fact that if I take the engine out, I will do a COMPLETE build with new rods and pistons, rings, oil pump, etc.. (knowing me, like to get the good stuff)..
My original plans were 400hp+... But now I just want a stock reliable engine.
This isn't my daily driver, I am a Telecom Tech with company van, and a BMW 740i as a daily driver (which I even hardly use)..
So the Supra is for Summers, nice nights and weekends, no rain no snow :)

Cometics are made to order. I'm not even gonna comment on what the salesman told you.

That said, I'm out... the rest of you have fun. :3d_frown:

I will give zankoku performance a call tomorrow and see if they stock the 2mm.
Also, I heard if the Titan = re-badged Cometic...
I may go with the Titan, time is running out.. I need this soon.
I saw some being sold on ebay! hmmm

I agree with you...
I've dealt with driftmotion, Aaron is great..
I just received my 57 trim turbo and gaskets, it only took a week to get them... Looks great! can't wait to put it on..
www.suprasport.com is great with prices and shipping, I saw Titan MHG 2mm on their site for $170.75
I have a questions about the sealing, Do I use any sealant or these Titan MHG are also coated? I'm not sure.
Also, while we at it, I just got the HKS Super Drager exhaust from www.suprasport.com and I'm looking for a high flow CAT, I want to stay green and pass inspection, is there any CAT that is recommended?
I saw this one: http://suprastore.com/higflowcat3d.html Any good?
Thanks again,
Best regards,
PAUL

worry about one part of the car at a time right now... haha

but all of the MHG i know of come with a coating of viton on it, i know the HKS does, and im 99% sure the cometic does from the pictures i've seen of them, and you use NOTHING on them, just clean the mating surfaces with acetone and make sure they are super clean.

titanmotorsports.com
driftmotion.com
a2motorsports.net

i frequent them quite often, i dont support HPF only because they buy stuff FROM titan to resell... soooo yeah, i see no point in paying for double when you get the same thing from titan for a better deal.

i'd get a downpipe first, and then get the cat and cat-back... because its the downpipe thats really holding back the turbo, especially the 57trim, and make sure you DONT just slap on that 57trim and hope to run 12+ PSI... cause it wont happen.

but in your sig is says greddy cat-back... why bother getting the hks one?

That's what I thought about the MHG seal issue..Viton should be coating the MHG.
My goals are stock levels, no Boosting... My old turbo was shot, so I bought 57 trim from driftmotion..
The exhaust was custom fit and welded to a CATCO Catalytic and scraped so bad that, and it didn't pass inspection. See pics, when I transported my car to the shop :) So I went ahead and bought the Dragger, my favorite anyway!!
I will order the MHG today, and stop by the shop to take pics of the head and block, and see what you guys think..
