3/8s is too small. It's like a 13mm or possibly a standard equivalent. Unfortunately nobody makes a 13mm bolt. So I bought a 1/2 inch rubber plug that you would normally use in the oil drain plug hole when it gets crossthreaded. I also used Magnum Steel to fill in the weep hole. Added coolant, fired her up, and it looks like it's gonna work out good. She idles at like 150-200rpm after I played with the timing on the distributor a bit. I'm gonna rotate the distributor a tooth over and try it that way. I'll let ya'll know how this works out after I get it to run correctly.
