What my Supra ownership has cost me over the past 3 years

So its almost June and almost 3 years ago I got my 1988 Supra Turbo, at the time it had 107,254 miles on it. Today it just rolled to 129,131 and its been a great blast! I never plan on selling the car, but even so I got this habit of cataloging all of my receipts, from anything that went towards the car. That means oil, filters, mods, inspections, gas, and also keep a record book of my maintenance on the car. Today I got the urge to find out how much I've spent of the car in the past two and half almost three years. I got the car in June of 07 and didn't start driving it until March of 08.

So lets begin
Gas: $2476.92
or roughly ~800 gallons of gas. For gas its seen nothing but Shell (98% has been from shell) and Chevron 93. I used Exxon only once during Hurricane Ike.

Oil Filters: $44.46
Broken down i bought one K&N, one OEM Toyota Filter, and three Purolator PureOne Filters.

Spark Plugs: $89.83
two sets of NGK Coppers, one set of Bosch Coppers (crap), free set of Autolite Coppers courtesy of SupraJay, one set of NGK Iridiums

ATF: $28.89
Castrol Multi Import Vehicle

LSD Oil: $19.28
Mobil 1 75W-90

Engine Oil: $284.12
5qts of Castrol GTX 10W-40, 12 qts of Quakerstate Q 10W-30, 6qts of Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30, 18qts of Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (GC)
10.25 gallons of oil

Coolant: $201.51
6 gallons of Prestone, 3 gallons of Peak, 2 gallons of Toyota Red (haven't used it yet), 2 gallons of Zerex G-05

Parts from Toyota: $713.31
Misc parts, OEM HG, water pump, etc

Machine Cost: $225
Head rebuilt at 109K miles

Upgrades: $1592.09
Tanabe SHM, ARP Headbolts (may not increase hp but its an upgrade over stock), etc.

Total: $5675.41 (this doesnt include purchase price of the car)

So its been an interesting, frustrating, exciting, and expensive ownership. I really don't want to add in my cost toward my rebuild. So ill stop here hope you guys find this as interesting as i did, its mind boggling how much i've spent. Im sure more have spent more.

I know what you mean, the big purchases are quantifiable, and believable. But it's the little odds and ends that can really sneak out of nowhere and surprise you.

My build thread I "started" to add it up...there is no way in hell I would now. I would shit myself to see how much money I have in my car. ROFL

I've just gotten to the year of ownership last december and have put less than 200 miles on it.
Probably got around 10k into my car w/o the cost of the car and I'm not anywhere done yet.

Someone told me once that you should spend the most money on your #1 your bed, #2 your car because thats where you spend most of your life.
I try to justify my obsession with that. haha

i prefer not know what i have into it. i did keep track of everything done up till it bhg then just claimed myself to the car and since ive bought tein coilovers and did the at to mt swap those where to 2 major things i paid for after the hg lots of free and cheap parts. if you count tires fuck over thousand in tires all of them discounted 50 percent off and ive owned the car for little over a year

lol thinking the same thing...it's bad enough to know how much $ you spent..but even worse to take a couple hours to add all those receipts !! haha

It'd be depressing if I added it all up. probably could have gotten a solid 15% down on a house I've been trying to get into for the last four years. XD

Total: $5675.41. 43% of your total is Gas: $2476.92. You haven't begun to spend on your Supra yet. :naughty:

I give you credit for your book keeping and keeping the expenses down.

I had to add all mine up to get maximum value on my insurance appraisal. The number left me scarred for life!

I Demand figures on these two! Tekdeus, your reported total will do. Duane, I honestly wouldn't choke if I saw 6 figures. Both cars are simply amazing.

I decided long ago to not keep up with this. If found, it could only be detrimental to the marriage, and very depressing to the soul. I knew then that I will never see most of that money ever again.
