I don't even want to know at the moment since she's still in pieces. Once she's back on the road I can at least feel why she's worth it but it will be a lot more soon since i'm venturing from the 400rwhp to the 500rwhp realm of mods.

Purchase price + petrol + registration fees for the last 4 years alone take my total to over $25,000AUD.

Maintenance, mods, parts, etc... I don't even want to know.

I bought my 89 turbo 2 years ago. When I purchased the car for $5000 CAD it had 139,864 KM on it. I then put roughly 7000$ into the car.

And in those 2 years I have drove the car a total of 1300km hahah.
Its hard to justify for some people to spend that kind of money. I see it being worth it as the car is so solid and has runs like a dream so far.
If I can get a summer of spirited driving with no major mechanical issues. Right at that point in time, all the money and time spent on the car will be worth it.

The craziest part is. The engine will come out again this winter for more work. It truly never ends!

Hrm... from the various parts I've bought and the various maintenance items... I'd say I'm well over $3000... in the last 2 years of ownership. Without gas figured in.

My 7M-GTE cost me $800. Engine came from a running car. R-154 cost me $325. Has 80K miles on it, good condition.
Alternator from Toyota was about $165.

Those are just a couple of figures

lol @ sticker shock, my wife keeps track of my car's expenses (accountant), but at last count it was above $11500, no turbo, no tune. I've driven it maybe 200 miles since I bought it...

It's Not Important Bro
Painfull to read. All total for me thus far, Maintenance, Brakes, Suspension, Wheels, BPU mods and tuning, I am really really close to C5 Z06 teritory. I am a little deep on the front end investment as my car only had 32k original miles when I bought her back in 08. But I made my choice and don't look back. I would not change a thing if I had it to do all over again. Still have a ways to go and can't wait to get there.

Yeah, I don't want to know what mine has costed so far. I would guess in the land of $8000 in the last 4 years since I bought it. I wouldn't count gas and oil for regular driving around for groceries and such, as that's the price of living in this country. New intercooler and a swig of other things is the kicker.

Believe it or not owning my Supra and keeping it parked is actually SAVING me money, as opposed to not having it at all. I shit you not, $50/yr is saved on my insurance via muilti-vehicle discount. It'd cost $1500 to insure my truck without the Supra, it's $150 to insure the Supra against vandalism, fire, ect... and takes $200 a year off my car insurance.

Who'd have thought a Supra could actually save you money?

Last month I had to put a tarp over mine and park it due to kids medical bills and the "slow" economy. When factoring in the maintenance, insurance and gas prices for premium, it was like giving myself a raise. It has only been three weeks but I am going through severe withdrawl pains exacerbated by having to drive the company truck (Nissan Frontier AT 4cyl) as my DD.
