Thanks for that.

Metallica was only good in the 80's, as it seems you would agree. I used to be a huge fan of them, but I guess I've just "broadened my horizons" a bit. It's tough for me to pick a favorite album of their's. I go back and forth between "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets." I like James' voice better on "RTL," but I'd say the riffs were heavier on "Puppets."

It's a sad truth that bands are usually (very generally) better in their earlier days. Not to say it's a rule, but it happens more often than not. Metallica is a prime example of this. Four killer albums from 83-88, then they took an ever-increasing turn for the worse.

Rock Music? Classic Rock too. Umm Sometimes I listen to classical/Christian Rock if that even counts. Mostly I listen to Audioslave, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and every now and then pull a couple of older tunes out in the form of Everclear. :biglaugh: Never was a big R&B or rap fan, although I can tolerate it. :eek3dance

I grew up in an area where there was predominately more black and latino people than white people, so the first type of music I was exposed to was hip-hop music. I'm not "a" rapper, nor do I consider myself gangster in any way, though I do say the word "yo" in place of "dude", and I wear baggy pants, but not hanging off of my ass baggy. Tightly secured at the waist-line.

[SARCASM]So, being that I like rap, that means I'm not a cool person to hang around and you all should stay away from me.[SARCASM]

Anyway, I listen to everything. A lot of the bands you guys have posted, I haven't even heard of. When I buy CD's, yeah, it's mostly commercial. Reason being, I have no clue what bands are good and which are not, so I don't waste my money.

Also, the word "commercial" relating to music is getting very trivial. Any underground band knows that to make money, they'll need to go mainstream sooner or later.

MDC-I've heard of The Killers, for whatever it's worth.

Brewster-You're down with some good older stuff. How old are you?

Anybody care to list any particular band members/musicians?

I'll lay a little bit of a list down with the bands that I like that each individual is from.

Singers-Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down), Dax Riggs (Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion), Mike Patton (Faith No More), Ben Falgoust (Goatwhore, Soilent Green), Layne Staley -RIP- (Alice In Chains, Mad Season), Johnny Throckmorton (Alabama Thunderpussy)

Guitar Players-Dimebag Darrell -RIP- (Pantera), Chuck Schuldiner -RIP- (Death, Control Denied), Sammy Duet (Goatwhore, Acid Bath, Crowbar), Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down), Pepper Keenan (Down, Corrosion of Conformity), Matt Pike (Sleep, High on Fire), Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King (Slayer), Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV and Double Trouble), Galder and Silenoz (Dimmu Borgir)

Bass Players-Rex Brown (Pantera, Down, Crowbar), Billy Gould (Faith No More), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Geddy Lee (Rush)

Drummers-Vinnie Paul (Pantera), Richard Christy (Death, Control Denied, Burning Inside), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Neil Peart (Rush), Nicholas Barker (Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog)

Sorry to make it so long. I really like music, if you haven't gathered that yet.

I just went back and read the thread, and you like a lot of the stuff I do lol. Jethro Tull and Frank Zappa weren't names I thought I'd see here. I'm on a big Jethro Tull kick right now, that's all I've been listening to for the last few days.
