My car is nothing amazing to deserve so much of my time/effort and take so much time away from my personal life.

But at the same time i refuse to let a 3800 lb of metal defeat me. It can be better, it can be pushed to the next level and i always wonder if i have the physical/mental capabilities to take it there on my own. Its the proving grounds for my knowledge.

At this point I think of it as an installment plan... by this time next year I'll have an entirely new car (excapt for the original VIN tags). :icon_conf

i love threads like this and i always try and justify it in someway different but i think you nailed it luis.

its a will thing, that i can exert my will on something and mold it into what i want it to be. now if i can just keep it running for a while with the last few mods and really finish it, its for the sense of accomplishment.

it really is like a drug. when my car was down last year i was down and 2006 sucked balls. 2007 seems to be going pretty well with the car running!

Back in the day my grandfather bought a brand new 88T and had it modded to 500+hp. The first time he took me for a real deal ride I fell in love (unfortunately it was wrecked in the late 90's).

I tell him that my goal is to one day take him for a ride and have him admit that my car is faster. :D

So, for me it's really just the love for the car, and I've been through so damn much with mine. Honestly, if I wrecked my car I don't know that I'd buy another. It was the first car that I did any major mechanical work on so it's also been a huge learning experience. When i see this car, i see my blood, sweat, tears, and a dream come to life.

Because the dfw community is so close and there are so many fabulous examples of what mk3's can be here. Zoon, Chris Hamms, Hoang, Christian and Joe, really everybody here (yes, the 7m's too :p ). I cant imagine any other car I could get that I would just go in the garage and stare at (I was just out there 15 minutes ago) and just be happy to own it, and my car doesnt even have an engine or a front end right now.


So long story short, Its because the people on here and locally continuously show me what I could have.

Naw i like the car and i like the way the car looks. I don't let my car down, i don't love my car, but i don't hate it. Plus i like when people go i like your 240 does it have a bodykit? lol

because it's the only car I own that I look at and say (yes out loud)"damn that car is sexy" "look how wide it is" "man it looks good in red" ect.

I do it cause all my friends give me crap for my car...until i give them a ride and they shut up and lay off for a few days :icon_bigg
