What is JDM? I was told my car isn't.

Someone said my car isn't JDM at all. I never wanted it to be, but I question how it isn't? Everything but the steering wheel location (steering wheel is jdm) has been changed out for the Japanese market part if it was different from the american one. Even the car itself is made in Japan. I had my rims imported from Japan and they are Japanese market only style.

That same person calls a car JDM like a civic, with red rims and wings.. but is made in canada.

I don't understand. Even when I showed my car at HIN Tampa, I got almost Zero points for JDM style in the judging.. but yet.. Everything on the damn car is japanese market...

That's rather stupid considering the acronym JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market(I'm sure you all know.) So, by simple definition of the term, anything on your car that is from the Japanese domestic market is JDM.

Yeah, weird. I guess just because its a sc300 and not a civic, it's not jdm. I can't make my car anymore JDM unless I convert the steering wheel to RHD. Everything has been switched.

There seem to be two JDMs that exist in the car scene. The actual JDM where you have Japaneses market parts on your car and the "JDM scene" where it's all the trends from Japan like doooooooooorifting, and the civics with red rims and spoon power steering fluid covers

I consider my car pretty JDM in both senses.

I have a japanese engine swap(JDM part) I have a JDM only part(My wheels, RS's were only sold in Japan) My car is slammed( That is a JDM scene, but Its slammed on JDM parts ), My sunshade isn't a REAL sunshade, but its a replica, So that goes either way.

It seems now anything can be hella JDM y0, and its meaning is basically pointless. Hopefully the red wheels, huge wings and such JDM scene is just a fucking fad, I want it to go back to what it really was before.

Yeah, i guess so too. It must not be JDM because i swapped out all the OEM parts for the japanese oem parts, but if i didn't tell you, you'd never know because they are not bright colors lol..


I explained to the kid that JDM car's don't have to be bright colored and civics and they can be modified street cars that look stock, and he said, what you described is a mustang, not a japanese car lol.

Unfortunatly, since I am in the HIN and NOPI show circuit, the judges also feel the same way.

USDM = Made in Japan, assembled here.

I remember this one time I was hanging out with these rice cookers that I know.. anyways he left his keys in the car and I figured hell it looks like a huge grocery cart might as well push it around like one. so long story short I was pushing a civic around by its wing while the owner *a huge mexican* tried to whoop my ass for scratching his kragen coke can wing. damn wish I had a pic it so tops that orange one above me.
