Alec, you can get header wrap at autozone...

Oh, ok. Cool. Chris, how much do you think it'll cost me to replace all my major gaskets and the oil pan gasket?

Oil pan gasket is form in place gasket. you can get it from Toyota for $$$, or you can get something like RTV (but there are better choices than that, I'm sure someone will chime in about that...).

The major gaskets... Stone, Cometic, Toyota, Mizumo, etc all have gasket sets. Toyota is obviously going to be $$$$$

That being said, I ordered a Cometic gasket set from SIP Racing (forum vendor) for about $130 shipped, just waiting on it to come in. It doesn't have the head gasket, though. Those are another $100 or so.

Does wrapping the pipe make that big of a difference? Didn't you say "bag the turbo"?
they do make a bag that might work on a ct.i used "DEI" wrap on my dp's,but haven't tried any other product's.

for the record the stock pipe has no heat insulation on it.the two cat's on the car will cause more heat under the hood, then an aftermarket 3" dp at the same boost level.

Ok sounds good. I was thinking of getting the oil pan gasket along with Felpro valve cover gaskets and the LIPP polished spark plug valley gasket. As far as the head gasket goes, I'm thinking I should get the HKS 1.2mm bead head gasket with ARP bolts or studs. Am I missing anything?

U can afford all that but wont buy bic? pesonally ild just get bic. and be done with it

Right now I'm contemplating whether to get a DDP or replace my gaskets and get a MHG with ARP's. Me and my buddy would do the work ourselves.

thats a no brainer replace all the gaskets get the head and block honed by a machine shop. then use this guide to find the MHG thickness you need. finish it off with the head studs then go from there.

its been posted pleanty of times its and old motor its better to get her cleaned up and running well stock before attempting to do to much to her.

A tube of FIPG is $10.50 for christ's sake.

As for an engine gasket set, I've used fel pro and another generic in the past with meh results. I always just use Toyota gaskets now (a complete engine gasket set is $380 from Champion -- its worth the extra $100-150imo).

ive heard a downpipe is just a downpipe despite of brand
have i heard wrong?
Yes & no.

Most of the super-cheat downpipes either fit like crap or don't replace the turbo elbow and therefore have a 2.5" restriction. If you're willing & have the skills to make it fit, they can be a decent deal -- provided you don't mind sending your $$ to china.

BIC's downpipes are probably the best out there for fit & power, and he was also somewhat of a pioneer in bringing divorced dp's to mk3s. So even if a knock-off makes almost as much power, it would be nice to support a Supra owner/innovator living in North America.

As for exhaust wrap -- I much prefer ceramic coating (both for asthetics and for corrosion resistance). There isn't much point in getting a stainless system if you're going to ceramic coat it, so a coated aluminized steel dp would get my vote.

+1 support the community, fuck china knockoffs.

:3d_frown: This has been discussed and I'm sure others will chime in to defend my +1. Wasn't this discussion had in a similar DP related thread.....

Alec it will be a couple months before I know if its staying on the car or not. I may just have a separate adapter made to fit the new turbo setup, but its not being cut up that's for sure. My engine dude will have my car the last week in October while I'm away on business so he can mock things up. So first week in november I should be able to give you an answer.
