hey guys!!

so uh...

my HC was @ 106 ppm(i have jack squat idea as to what the heck that means btw)...

and it says ave HC is @ 31. i'm thinkin my #'s a wee bit high. does that mean my car's going to explode(on a side note... is that average for supras or average for all cars....)?

oh, that's at 15 mph ...

at 25 everything seemed okay. my NO (PPM) were kinda low for both...

my car//average
131ppm @ 15mph // 237ppm @ 15mph
79ppm @ 25mph // 199ppm @ 25mph

oh... on a side note, it says the "test weight" of my car is 3875 lbs. please dear god tell me that's just some number they make up to scare me. i mean, i know our cars are portly but... WOW. just, WOOOOOOW. :O

THANKS !

HC is unburned fuel. Not smog. You need to post all the results of the emission trace to get an accurate diagnosis.

You have the report?

errrr... yea lol

you just need the numbers right? all the visual passed....

//MY MEASURED VALUES
15mph @ 1617RPM [CO2% = 14.1] [O2% = 0.38] [HC(PPM) = 106] [CO% = .15] [NO(PPM) = 131]

25mph @ 1659RPM [CO2% = 14.2] [O2% = 0.30] [HC(PPM) = 44] [CO% = .11] [NO(PPM) = 79]

//AVERAGE
15 mph [HC(PPM) = 31] [CO% = .10] [NO(PPM) = 237]
25 mph [HC(PPM) = 20] [CO% = .09] [NO(PPM) = 199]

i hope that's legible.... :eek:

Your readings look pretty good, looks like you're just running a little rich. Only thing s I could suggest would be a little bit of octane booster, clean air filter, maybe go for a little aggressive drive before getting readings done again to warm up the cat.

And as a note for the weight, it's gotta be a set parameter, they listed mine as the exact same.

Skip the octane booster. Octane raises the threshold of detonation and pre-ignition. It does not change the air/fuel ratio.

Getting the car warmer first is a good idea.

Yea, you are running rich, that is why the HC levels are so high, I would check codes, and make sure all of your sensors are okay, and their wiring is sound...check the connectors going to the sensors, the pins get dirty/funky over time, and may not be making the best connection anymore...

Actually adding octane booster will cause a rise in HC or well tends too.

An actual old trick that we use to do her in FL when we had emissions testing was run 87 and advance the hell out of the timing and baby the car to the test center. The low octane and advanced timing helped insure that the car would be below the 220 PPM max that was set here.

You car only fails if it has a malfunction anyway. Don't worry about little tricks for the most part.

If he has an electrical missfire from a bad ignition, or anybody else, you need to state that when asking information.

I was only posting about the "adding octane booster" and how that will usually hurt you not help you and the trick was to show how that happens.
