I was thinking the same things you were, and I've decided to go NA-T. It's gonna cost over $3k to do the conversion over this summer, but that is including a bunch of aftermarket goodies. It's gonna be a good summer project, and I'm definently going MHG, with ARP studs. Also, anybody know what would be a good clutch to go with for my W58 to handle the extra power?

Wow, Im glad you think Im an idiot. Ive spent probably hundreds of hours reading up on this and Im not planning on doing anything on a whim. As far as becoming more educated on the matter, why do you think Ive joined this forum(among others)? Thanks for the support.

I didn't imply you were an idiot, but after your hundreds of hours of reading, you are still asking some very basic questions that are already answered 101 times on this forum, and on other sites around the net.

Forget I mentioned anything, I will not reply to your threads in the future.

Look, I understand that anything I do is going to take time and money. What I dont want to do is spend a shit load of money and later find out that I could have done something else that would have saved me time, money, and stress, and produce higher gains. Im not worried about cost. Its efficiency. Bang for buck.

if u dont want to spend a shitload, the supercharger option is way out in left field.Swap a gte and tranny, and call i a day. You double your gte budget and u can swap in a 1jz

seriously though man, you got to relax, when you post up questions on forums you are going to get some responses you dont like. You've just got to dust your shoulders off and keep moving. Bad comments will always come with the good ones, youve just got to sort them out and move on from there. But to be honest, this forum is nothing like supraforums the people here are all pretty well intentioned and enjoy sharing the knowledge that they have gained over the yrs.

But if you want the least stressful option than I say go ahead and swap out your motor for a GTE. Ive already spent like 1500 on my NA-T and I still dont have all the parts I need (well want) and for that amt of money you could have a stock turbo car and having fun with it. I personally just like the idea of a high compression turbo motor, so Im sucking it up and dealing with the large cost and stress.

I agree with 1 tuff. Wanting and needing are 2 different things. And from the minimal research I have compiled, the swap to the 7mgte is the way it looks like you may want to go. I also agree that this sight is aimed more at the technical revolving around the supra and supra forums is basically a place where you can ask advice, but basically your'e there to jerk off.

Im asking broad questions for a purpose and I know that there are answers everywhere on the internet. The only problem is that depending on where I go, the answers I get are very different. All the options work, Ive found cars with each different application, and each time they say its the best route and they love their decision. Im not looking for answers, I asked for opinions. I didnt mean to ruffle any feathers, but i dont like to be cut down. Thanks for your help earlier, it was very insightful.

it reads like someone bought the wrong kind of ride. I think the s in supra stands for stress.

Ya, I wish I would've started off with a 5 speed turbo. I would even get rid of mine and search for one for sale, but Ive already got about 6k into my car and theres no way I could sell it for anything close. I could maybe get 1500, if Im lucky. Im stuck with what Ive got.

I'm not sure it makes much sense to go from 3.0 liters to a 1.5. you may try jdm or engine world. Hard to say. I like the 7mge. I like it stock. ONe of these days someone is going to buy my car and pay more than they should because they want a well rounded car that is untainted. I hope.LOL

A 1.5jz is a 2.5L 1JZ head put on a 3.0L 2jz bottom end. So the motor is still 3L but with the revability of the 1JZ "stock"

7M-GTE/R-154 swap. Swap the head gasket with a new OEM, ARP head studs, Throw a BIC or Cooleeze DP, Test Pipe, Cat-back, intake and a DR.J MBC and you have an easy 250rwhp.(conservative)

definitely go for the 2jz swap for goofy-ass power, headaches and expenses. id stick with the 7mgte due to so much potential

That's really conservative. Friend of mine up here runs that plus a new intercooler, hardpipes, and 550cc injectors, and he put down 436rwhp.

There are LOTS of people running numbers from stock all the way to 700rwhp on the 7M, and the path to each level is rather well documented. There's even a thread about it in the MK3 Supra Reference/Tech-Tips section here - the newbie guide to modifying your 7M, or something like that.

I think u forgot to mention what kind of turbo upgrade ur friend has. 436whp from the stock CT26 has got to be near impossible

Mike: He wants the lowest cost option and with a Mk3 for me this rings alarm bells as we all know how our cars reward cut corners! (the stress will follow)
Agreed.

I still stand by my statement that 99 times out of 100, the weak link in the MKIII is the owner. Do it right or don't do it at all,
Still agreed. But this car is not a "cheap thrill car" And I think that is what IJ is getting at.

I see many many posts about how their Supra is always broke. And the often the only person to work on it is themselves.

Back on topic. Another vote for the 7MGTE swap. I plan on a turbo GE sometime, but I just have never gotten around to do it. You will face an issue with tuning it.

Just swap in a 7M-GTE, anything else is going to be a headache and a half, with the stress to match it. Not to mention copious amounts of money, and fabrication that takes copious amounts of experience, money, and equipment. :)
