No need to drop the tank, its wedged up by the subframe in front of the tank. Prepare to replace rusty lines.

Unscrew the 3 screws for the cover in the hatch, unbolt the top from the filler area so you don't snap the neck, unbolt the two straps but suspend the tank. Lower the tank slightly so you can disconnect the lines from the top. Its not too bad really.
Ugh... yum. Well, I'd imagine after 20 years, they're bound to be gross by now. They're a good filter (lifetime from what the wise ones point out), but a new one will last you another 20 or so years, so... have fun with that?Dani87x;1886428 said:Fuel filter changed... Rust poured out of it
I'd clean both as a minimum, long as you're down in the area. I'll be replacing mine, since we're going to be putting new lines and pumps on it while we're in there anyway.Orion ZyGarian;1886436 said:You'll have a bunch of people chime in insisting that it isnt necessary, and that it is a lifetime filter. Truth it, sometimes it'll still get overwhelmed with nasty gunk, so the least you can do is drop the tank and clean both out.
Should be right there on the main page (supramania.com) in the tech articles.ryansmith;1886444 said:Is there a write up on dropping the tank and doing the filter replacement ? may do this over the weekend
Why would anyone give you flack for that? Looks better than all but the 89-style 3-spoke in my opinion.Atlas;1886499 said:Might catch some flack for this, but I finally re-installed my interior and a neat little steering wheel which will keep my hands happy.

Just waiting for my crankshaft bearings to come in and I can finally start putting the engine, and subsequently the car back together. Still looking to replace the driveshaft for a one piece. That'll come later :icon_bigg
